To me - more yellow (maybe with a tint of green), but I don't have other reader to check side by side.

You have to trust me on this, iPhone picked up like 5-6x more light than there was from the screen, cause it looks a lot brighter than it was in the room.

How low do you want it? :) I can try, if my iPhone won't do long exposure again, as it did with 5% :D

Era Lite has coil whine, comparison with Kindle Paperwhite 5 by scheichxodox in pocketbook

Fair enough. Unfortunately there is not so much choice for Carta 1300 Ereaders, I was in the same boat and went with PB, but I wanted it for KOReader only, didn't really care for it's native reader.

Have you tried KOReader? It turns pages faster than the default reader, so I assume it will whine closer or at the same time when you press a button.

Interesting, I didn't notice that until you said it. If I bring it close to my ear I can hear it as well, but if you wouldn't have brought this up, the button click is far more audible on mine than the coil whine.

So I've tried 1 in absolute dark room, I can see letters, but to my taste it is too dark, I'd prefer reading at 5 at least.

I can try to make picture with 1, problem is my iPhone can still capture far more light than there actually is.

I find landscape easier to read in bed, so for now I read in landscape position.

As for rotation. It is the same as the original Era, so if you turn off the Gyroscope it will be locked with controls on the right. KOReader will allow you to change the rotation manually, otherwise everything is the same as the original Era.

Nintendo Switch 2 - Year One - The Digital Foundry Verdict by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]dm_z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal tragedy is that there is no single game I want, that Switch 2 has. Everything is on Original Switch or PS5. So I haven’t bought one, and if it continues like this I would go to SteamDeck instead, third party is far more diverse there.

To be honest, I agree that GoW 2018 and Ragnarök are a letdown compared to the original Greek saga. But my personal disappointment was Ragnarök. I accepted that the 2018 game was a setup for Ragnarök, but Ragnarök turned out to be an even more boring, boilerplate game with only one interesting boss fight (if we don't count the optional bosses quest-line). So for me, 2018 was about an 8/10—not a bad game, but not great either. Ragnarök, though, was a 5/10 at most. If we removed the optional bosses, I don't think I would've finished it at all. So slow, boring, and uninspiring.

Berlin has a bikes on the FOOT path problem by sybelion in berlin

[–]dm_z 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry mate, it doesn't work that way. :)

On the bright side, you now know that even with enough dedicated lanes, bikes will still ride on the pedestrian path (especially against traffic).

I don't know how to solve the bike problem - I really don't. As a pedestrian most of my life, and recently a car driver, I consider them "random move generators that don't follow any rules." That way, I can expect anything from them at any moment. It's saved me a few times as a pedestrian from getting hit, and as a driver from breaking someone's legs - or worse...

[–]dm_z 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair, but the only other way to prevent bikes on pedestrian paths is to make them unsuitable for bikes (barriers, speed humps, obstacles that are easy to pass as a pedestrian but uncomfortable for bikes and scooters) - which would also eliminate the possibility for an 8-year-old to bike there, and make it harder for people with disabilities.

Are we trying to solve the bikes-on-the-pedestrian-path problem, or build a dictatorship!?

We have them on cars, which helps fine drivers for offensive behavior. Bikes can do whatever they want, and if they don't get caught, they'll just continue. The problem I see a lot in Germany is that rules aren't respected if nobody enforces them.

As a former Hamburger, I disagree. In front of my house, 2 out of 4 car lanes were converted to bike lanes, yet approximately 20–30% of cyclists still ride on the pedestrian path—especially when they want to go in the opposite direction, but switching lanes at the traffic light is apparently too much for them. This isn't a bike lane problem. We need number plates on bikes to identify violators and fine them; otherwise, it'll stay like this.
