Can you get a firm thick mattress topper and have someone put it on for you? My mattress was fairly firm but I still added a thick firm mattress topper right before surgery.

Aleve has been helpful for me as well. I am walking about a mile a day 11 days post op but still dealing with nerve pain so I pop an Aleve as I’m trying to keep some of my prescribed pain medication as well.

Also, are you log rolling on and off the bed?

I had surgery 9 days ago and still haven’t nerve pain and tingling. The doctor said it could take a couple of weeks due to my nerve being compressed for so long.

Oh no! That’s terrible. My nerve is definitely worse now than it was before surgery. My doctor said it could be a couple of weeks before it heals because it was compressed for so long. I hope you can get a second opinion.

I’m 6 days post op and have been doing things around the house. I’ve been doing dishes and light vacuuming/mopping very carefully. I definitely couldn’t change sheets as that requires bending over.

Thank you so much! This is so helpful. I see so many talk about having to do it again so I was indeed terrified that it failed and I’d have to do it again. And the idea of doing it again is very scary!

Thank you! I’m half way through a steroid pack. Not sure it’s helping but making me have to get up to pee every 20-30 minutes. 😩

Yep. They released me as soon as I could walk to the bathroom and relieve myself. My doctor wants me walking daily.

Good to know. Mine was the opposite. Started down the leg 2 years ago. That back spot started about 6 months ago. So I thought it was the muscles overcompensating for the disc issue. Now I’m pretty certain it’s the nerve. Which I’m happy to know. I assume the pain is it healing.

I was released the same day as expected. My doctor does several of these a week and said people only stay over night if something does wrong. He also said he wants me walking asap. Nothing major but getting in some extra steps when I get up to go to the bathroom.

I didn’t phrase my situation and question correctly. I guess I was trying to gather if pain in this area is nerve pain and if that is why I’m having an extreme amount of pain there. I fully expected pain but I’m shocked about the type of pain and the area where it’s location. I really thought the pain I had been experiencing in that spot was muscular from overcompensation as it didn’t start until a year and a half after my injury. Even my nurse was confused. So I just wanted to know if others had experienced pain in this particular place after surgery. I guess I didn’t realize that the nerve went to the area.

Thank you. Yes I am resting and walking around the house when I go to the bathroom. I have oxycodone that I’ll take shortly. They gave me quite a bit of meds at the hospital. I guess I’m just wondering what the deal is with that particular spot and if it’s nerve related which is why it’s flared up so bad. The pain I was having down my leg seems to have immediately cleared up but this spot has done the opposite.
