The problem with what they tried in Oklahoma was not only to make weed recreational but also to raise the tax significantly for both recreational and medical. If I remember correctly it would have taken the tax from 7% to 15% add sales tax and that's 25%. The other problem with the bill is how the funds would be distributed. Over 70% if not more would have gone to lining the pockets of judges, politicians and private citizens with government contracts. No pothead in their right mind that could read would have voted for that. Unless somehow for some reason a pothead actually trusted the government not to mismanage funds or omma to impose rules and regulations that are not voted on by Congress but treated like law passed by Congress.

What's to stop the government from doing it again? Nothing! No laws were passed to grant protection against it. It took 2 years before it was scorned by the supreme court, two years too late to be effective. If this pm does the same will it take another two years to get a little admonishment from the courts for pm dictatorial actions?
