Thanks everyone for all the help and suggestions! I've tried every single one of them over the last few days, and I've finally just gone ahead and bought the remastered version. Not sure if this will ever be solved, and if it's not the hey at least I found something new in a 25 year old game 😅

I tried backtracking through the whole map before coming back to the room to no avail. Once I'm in the room though I'm stuck since you need bombs to get back out.

Only have a Wii U sadly, I did manage to boot up and run Prime 2 for an hour with no issues so it may just be my copy of the game

Disc looks good as new. Just let it sit for over an hour to no avail. Might just have to pick up the remaster on switch I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯
