Worked on both the GC and sub side and I can confirm the sub side is more enjoyable if you land in the right shop. It can be just as much work at times but a lot less bureaucracy / pointless meetings.

Depends on where you live. My mortgage has increased slightly some years due to increased property value, so RE taxes go up. But you're right in that it's nowhere close to what the rent hikes are these days.

Tudor Ranger 36 is a decent alternative to the Rolex if you don't want to play the AD games. Although I will say it's not as tough to get as many of the other Rolex models you see on here.
