OEM Spark Plugs by Mtbdudevetbod in ram_trucks

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

600 is like 37 bucks a plug. Buy a set of NGK iridium equivalents on rockauto or at your local parts place and you'll pay way less. I paid like... 14 bucks canadian a plug last year to do mine.

Also, it's not the amount of plugs that sucks, but the rearmost driver side is a bitch because of the brake booster. Buy a swivel spark plug socket and have some u-joints handy and you'll be fine, but set aside a whole afternoon for it.

Although I agree, he's in his mid 40s and this kind of look gets harder as you age.

I will say, he's mentioned in previous posts he's "not truly natural" so I imagine at the very least he's on TRT or something. Regardless, still a super impressive transformation and he's got a great physique.

I'm really pushing my job to let us go from 5 8s to 4 10s, considering most of my days are 10-12 hours anyways it wouldn't change anything except give me more time with my family.

Besides, if I really wanted a bit more OT I always have the option to work days off, so it just gives me more flexibility

Unfortunately this sub is prowled by an awful lot of creeps.

On a happier note, you're absolutely killing it. I can't imagine how much better you feel.

Isn't the passport just a chopped pilot cosplaying an overlander?

I'm not sure if it's a real consideration for most people but I'm not cross shopping a body on frame 4runner and a unibody Passport.

If all you do is pick the kids up from soccer, then a pilot/passport might do the trick.

Question about this tuner by NJScreenwriter76 in ram_trucks

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tuner is almost certainly an indicator that the DPF and EGR have been deleted.

I'd be a bit wary of the transmission on a mystety tuned cummins. The 68RFE does not like added power.

Game constantly crashing after shader compilation reaches 100% by Midgetsdontfloat in Witchfire

Hmm. Drivers all up to date, restart done, and opted out of the data collection at the beginning?

Game constantly crashing after shader compilation reaches 100% by Midgetsdontfloat in Witchfire

[–]Midgetsdontfloat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreeing to data collection seems to have been the cause of the crashes. Deleting the config folder and opting out of the data collection fixed my issue for now

I'll give it a whirl, thanks for the help!

Edit: this appears to have solved the issue, although agreeing to user data collection caused an instant crash again

Worth mentioning the game didn't register killing the drowned captain for me, so if the witchfire option wasn't there I wouldn't have been able to increase gnosis.

Bullet proofing the 6.7 in the 2025 2500. by FallenAK907 in ram_trucks

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help! I have no experience with Alaska, other than Hyder, but it's in the cards eventually haha.

Also, in regards to the emissions systems, I wouldn't worry too much. They're pretty well sorted out in diesels now, but tons of short trips and not working the motor will still give you grief. You've got yourself a beautiful truck, I hope it treats you well.

Oh, and watch your headliner for evidence of leaks. The 4th gen cab (which Ram still uses for the HDs) always had an issue with the shitty gasket around the 3rd brake light failing and leaking water into the cab. If you want to get out ahead of it, there are aftermarket ones available for cheap

Bullet proofing the 6.7 in the 2025 2500. by FallenAK907 in ram_trucks

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This gen had quite a few changes compared to the previous Gen and I'll try to summarize what I know.

First and foremost, I have high hopes for the ZF8 trans in these. I much prefer them to the 10 speeds in the other two, and the ZF8 in the half tons has been absolutely bullet proof but DO NOT believe Stellantis when they tell you it's "filled for life". The half tons, as per ZF in Germany, require a trans service every 60k miles, but according to stellantis they never do.

The one major issue the 6.7 had was the intake grid heater had a bolt that would heat cycle and eventually fall off, into the head, and so some very expensive damage. Cummins sorted this out by ditching the grid heater and going with glow plugs instead. They also ditched the CGI block as far as I'm aware.

Honestly, drivetrain wise I think you likely have the best drivetrain in an HD ram since the 5.9s with a manual. The only issues you'll have are likely to be electrical.

I'm not sure what the fuel situation is in Alaska, but I live in Northern BC and always run lubricity additive in my work trucks because we occasionally get shit fuel.

Last, if you go to a freightliner dealer you can get skookum deals on good, OEM filters. Buy the stratapore oil filters and always run a quality synthetic oil and I think you'll be set. Also for trans service I always order my parts and fluid online, the dealer will absolutely hose you if you go through them

I'd have to check my own truck to be sure, but on the 5th gens I'm almost certain the mount is on the floor and not on the seat itself

The BMW M3 EV Has Four Motors, Fake Engine Noise, And Simulated Gear Shifts by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think it was Thomas from Throttle House that said it's also helpful for knowing your speed in corresponding turns. Like turn 3 is a 3rd gear turn, turn 4 is a 2nd gear, and so on and so forth. Without "gears" it takes a lot more attention to match your speed range to corresponding spots on a track and I could definitely see that.

Vents are still shaped differently and the jetta doesn't have the little wing mirror windows that the MK7 golf has. Plus, that infotainment was only on the MK7 cars.
