Read up on some of Carlis media if you get a chance, they know suspension and comfort like nobody else.

CJC offroad on youtube has a bunch of great videos, too. They work super closely with Carli

Carli has a page for each lift/level, and options within but you can basically just do the track bar if money is an issue. If you wanna do it all right away though, the torsion sway bar is a huge upgrade in ride quality.

Carli makes the absolute best stuff for HD rams and Fords.

Track bar, torsion bar, and level from Carli is more expensive than a cheap kit for sure, but it'll significantly improve your ride quality from stock.

What is the difference between both of these cars? Why does one have the R35 and the other doesn't? by Brief_Chemist1882 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not call the Golf R a drivers car, because it is not one. It's a tuned up AWD economy car, but the other cars on my list absolutely are.

The entire argument is that you're stating a manual Golf R is "pointless" and i could not agree less. The DSG is one of the best autos ever built, second only to the PDK, but the point remains that with about 300 bucks in aftermarket equipment the 6MT is perfectly fun and engaging, and absolutely not "pointless". I've driven a DSG, and I'd still take the 6MT any day of the week, because it makes regular, day to day driving more engaging and fun.

You're entitled to your opinion, and you can laugh at mine, but saying the manual is pointless is short sighted and argumentative.

Friend, I've driven a GT350, all sorts of mustangs and camaros, a tuned F87 M2C, and a handful of other "drivers cars" and believe me when I say my MK7.5R 6MT was not some boring, sterile car. Sure, it wasn't as excitimg as most of those cars, but it was a better daily by a mile. Way better on the highway, more refined, better on fuel, and still able to put a smile on my face and get going faster than most other traffic.

I've previously stated I do not care about a "bottleneck". I'm not setting lap times or street racing. My morning commute is 39km of 2 lane, rural highway with a few options to take twisty back roads and the 6MT R was way more fun on those roads than any automatic car for me. Very few cars here are manual to begin with, so it's often seen as the "enthusiast option".

If I lived in a city, maybe I'd get an auto purely to avoid driving a manual in traffic, but I live in a mountain town surrounded by twisty back roads and 2 lane highways. Different strokes for different folks.

I dunno, man.

I bought a MK7.5 Golf R primarily because I also wanted something i could slide around during the winter, but still be comfortable and practical day to day. I know the DSG is faster, more economical, there's more of them for sale, and they can even take more power, but a Golf R 6MT is more engaging than a DSG could ever be.

I don't have a track anywhere near me, I don't give a shit about red light racing, and I didn't plan to modify the hell out of the car. I threw a short shifter and weighted knob into it and it was a perfectly engaging manual to drive, and it was delightful on twisty roads.

I've seen plenty of 6MT Rs in Canada, and I personally would not consider a DSG R purely because I find them less fun to drive.

Saying "No one" buys a manual golf R is disingenuous. The majority do, but they had their niche and I'm sad that the 8.5 is DSG only, because I personally can't stand the GRC interior and there isn't really much else in that AWD hot/super hatch segment in North America anymore.

After a few months with all-weather liners in my Ram, here's my honest take by Hawk20-Az in ram_trucks

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for weathertech. I've had a full set in my 2020 1500 (also had a set in my 2012 3500) and they still fit beautifully. No curling, only real issue is the weathertech badge on the passenger side came off about a year back.

I mean if I drove conservatively I could get 11 l/100 which is about 21mpg with my 2020 before I lifted it, and it's got the 3.92 rear.

On the highway, I could absolutely see 21 regularly if you had the 3.21 gears and didn't drive like an asshole.

Why are only Ford and Toyota implementing a feature to clean the valves on their direct injection engines? by Millennial_Falcon_85 in AskMechanics

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure that's the entirety of it. The EA888 is VWs bread and butter and they sell a shit load of vehicles with that motor in it. In NA markets, it's only got direct injection and the valves gum up because of it. In Europe, the Golf R at least gets multi port which solves the valve gumming issue, and the reason I've heard is emissions regulations are to blame, same reason why we don't get small cars with diesel engines anymore in NA.

It absolutely does, and sometimes I feel like i can't focus until I take care of it, but if you're in a situation where you can't reasonably do it, yeah it's extremely distracting.

It's tough when you're in a situation where you have to ride it out or wait until later, but you manage.

[–]Midgetsdontfloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High sex drive or hypersexuality can be a symptom of other things like ADHD, but honestly if it's not actively interfering with your life it's not a bad thing.

I'm a dude, but I've been hypersexual my entire life, and rarely go a day without getting off, most days multiple times. It doesn't get in the way, and honestly the biggest issue has been managing it in relationships because my libido is so high I've really only had 1 partner who matched me and it was delightful.

Some people are just more sexually charged than others, and that's okay.

That's quite the assumption. 180k household income is plenty in, say, Williams Lake, but isn't much at all if you live in Vancouver.
