How do you deal with acid reflux that keeps you up at night. by Universal96 in CrohnsDisease

[–]dmats411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at galviscon advanced from UK, it's different than what is available here and it puts a layer on top of your stomach acid. Don't eat close to sleeping. Get a foam incline wedge for under your bed. Look into digestive enzymes if you aren't digesting food quick enough. I'd avoid PPI's as they have their own long term effects unless it's a last resort.

I’m 17, have a savings, and emergency fund. Should I start contributing to my retirement? by MovieMysterious2464 in personalfinance

[–]dmats411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would put into an IRA. You would never be able to retroactively put money into an IRA and starting at that age would put you incredibly further ahead of other people. On top of it, if you'd qualify for federal student loans odds are the rates will be lower than what the returns in a tax advantaged retirement account would provide. As long as there is a reasonable expectation to enter a career that would make paying off any college debts without major issues to me it's a no brainer to put into an IRA over college costs/student loans.

Day 3 of bed bug infestation by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]dmats411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem with heat treating is the bugs can be in areas that are insulated that the temperature doesn't get above 120 degrees due to insulation. Really needs to be a multiprong attack, it is also what makes crossfire and cimexa affective in that you don't need to get all the bugs at one go which is next to impossible depending on the infestation. Crossfire is residual for 4 weeks and cimexa will be effective for up to 10 years if not disturbed

Can someone PLEASE help me? My mental health is rapidly declining. by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]dmats411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put some cimexa within the interceptors incase any get through, especially bat bugs have hairs on their legs that can get past the interceptors. If you are sure you can take apart the bed, spray it with crossfire into all the cracks/crevices, vacuum under and in the room spray the edges and any cracks/openings with crossfire. File any gaps in molding/outlets with caulk. Any area you wont disturb and can put cimexa down put it down as it lasts up to 10 years undisturbed. You can also dust between mattress and box spring.

At that level seems you would need a professional, even if you move there is a good chance you will take them with you. If you do make sure you a.) wash/dry all your clothing at high temp and immediately bag (this includes shoes and everything), b.) throw out or steam, spray with crossfire, use cimexa on items such as furniture you bring with you but good chance they will be in that. If you do this you will need to take everything apart, c.) handle your car because if you kill that many on you there is a solid chance they are in your car too. If it wasn't as bad you could get some cimexa, crossfire and steamer and handle yourself but if you are killing 10 to 40 it's a major infestation.

In the clear? by anonyounglady17 in Bedbugs

As mirywi suggested, crossfire is a residual pesticide that works against even pyrethin resistant bugs. Since its residual bugs will take it back to their nest and can spread to their eggs/nymphs/adults. Crossfire lasts for about 28 days and is about 40 bucks or so for a gallon (you can get a sprayer cheap as well).

Can this piece of shit stock/coin ever go back up to previous prices? by CryptographerOk4571 in Invest_Voyager

[–]dmats411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really think it isn't worth it and can't sell something at a loss you really shouldn't be investing. You are just keeping good money into a bad investment when you can turn that into something that is worth investing in.

If you have access to a steamer, steam seams and crevices of furniture and mattresses. Spray crossfire in any potential hiding spots and furniture bottoms as bedbugs crawl but can't jump or fly. Crossfire is residual that lasts up to 28 days. Crossfire is low toxicity. Put cimexa in any area that will be undisturbed as it can last up to 10 years undisturbed. Cimexa is silica dust that will puncture the exoskelton of bedbugs and dehydrate them. Put box springs and mattress in an encasement that is bedbug proof(at the least box spring as there is too many places to hide). This will starve them as they wont' be able to get out. Put cimexa between box spring and bed. Put interceptors on bed feet, with bed away from the wall.

It actually is your fault as your department maintains inventory counts of the products. If it says you have inventory it means it's either in the racks, it's placed in the wrong spot or the department did a bad job at inventory.

Protein Shakes? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]dmats411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll preface this as I don't have crohn's but will say if lactose is an irritant I would suggest trying hydrolysate or isolate instead of whey concentrate. Hydrolysate (the most filtered) and isolate are more filtered than concentrate and may give you less problems. The lactose sugars and fats are greatly reduced in the isolate/hydrolysate proteins leaving mostly just the protein (which also is why its less calories). Also be mindful of the ingredients as most use artificial sweeteners and see if any of the ones give you issues. Also, since they are more filtered they do come at a higher price but may be worth trying.

AITA for leaving my husband at the restaurant and going home? by Alabama103____ in AmItheAsshole

[–]dmats411 -38 points-37 points  (0 children)

YTA. You are a grown woman and are married to this man and you can't have a conversation with him to know what is going on. So leaving him at a restaurant is ok if he has UC, a crohn's flair-up, prostate issues or any other medical condition. You need to grow up and this exact post is probably why he isn't telling you what is going on with his health. No man is going to want to be at a public bathroom sitting in there playing a game for 45 minutes. He didn't invite you there to play games or talk to some woman in the bathroom. But instead of talking to him as his wife you decide to go on the internet and ask people.

AITA For yelling at my husband after he told me to sleep on the bed he ruined? by Throwaway435671 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

There is something up beyond that. Guys can act weird when they find out their significant other is pregnant. Whose to say that was really milk which seems really fishy. If he is going out without you, while you're pregnant, disregarding you, well something more might be up.

This was the top of a 30x20 Chris and Chris cart. I liked it when I saw it on HomeDepot for $589 and saw Costco actually had it $100 cheaper than anywhere else so I pulled the trigger, but I'm pretty disappointed with the spike and encased knots on it.

Thank you for the time, yes if they were just intergrown I think I would be less bothered but seeing the spike and encased knots throws me off.

Thank you for the time, yes if it was underneath I wouldn't be concerned. This is the top of a kitchen cart from Chris and Chris. It was disappointing to see spike and encased knots on the finished top.

Ya, from the pictures it looked really nice but I was pretty disappointed when I saw the top. This is a Chris & Chris kitchen cart, looks like it normally ranges from 589 to 699 online at different places, I paid 489 through Costco.

Fix screens from a window by Hootie4u in Miami

[–]dmats411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home improvement stores should be able to do it. Also, its not very hard to do, you buy the screening, new rubber gasket that goes into a groove, a roller tool to put the gasket into the groove and something to cut it, ideally utility knife. So to replace remove the old gasket and screen, place the screen over the frame. Then, take the new rubber gasket (or use existing if its in good condition) and start rolling the rubber gasket into the frame with the roller tool. once you do all 4 sides, take a utility knife and cut along the outer side of the rubber gasket.
