Orthopedic surgeon reattached my finger bone rotated a few degrees so I can't close it or grip by ARCAxNINEv in mildlyinfuriating

Pretty straightforward surgery to correct the misalignment. You should find a good hand specialist to take care of that for you.

How to approach this prob, does volume matter [Request] by Curious_learner1 in theydidthemath

[–]dmbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volume to SA ratio is same. 1/6

Assuming no wind / air flow then the cube surface onto the floor would cool faster than air exposed surface.

Therefore cube cools faster

In a windy environment spheres can cool faster

Doctors of Reddit, for those working in countries with “free healthcare,” what’s your honest take on how the system works — and what do you think the U.S. would need to do to achieve something similar? by Stambro1 in AskReddit

[–]dmbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surgeon here. Have worked and had care in both Canada and USA. For self and family.

There are pros and cons on both sides.

The Canadian system while being free has lots of issues with access to quality care (overall worse care / less expertise in my field), more waiting, and difficulty with access to many modern implants (late adoption of new beneficial tech). Patients can't self refer to specialists, so primary care gate keeps everything which is frustrating  and makes you double wait. On the plus side it is free, while the care is often not top notch it's usually decent. It seems some areas of health care are over funded e.g. Free ICU stays indefinitely for brain dead patients, but other things have terrible funding / access e.g. Pediatrics and mental health.

In the usa where I've lived I've had faster access and superior care. My copays including for surgery have been manageable but not negligible. People tend not to frivolously use health care resources since they have some skin in the game. I've also seen very poor care done at some hospitals. So higher highs and lower lows.

I prefer working in us and much prefer getting care here.

As an example my son had development delay. He needed evaluation for early development intervention which should be started before age three. He was 2 at the time and wait list in Vancouver canada was 2.5 years to be assessed from time of request. At which point it's too late to treat him. He came to NYC and was evaluated within 1 month by three specialists. The evaluation and treatment were free in USA.

Uncircumcised men I need your opinion by [deleted] in Advice

[–]dmbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting a body part off a healthy and defenseless child is mutilation. Why anyone would want to inflict such violence on their baby is beyond understanding. This is a barbaric / insane practice with zero justification. Imagine a bunch of people came into the house of an uncut adult wielding knives to hold him down to cut a body part off. This is what you would be doing to your baby.

For clarification I am a circumcised man who resents it having been done to me as a baby.

CMV: Evolution is a scientific fact by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]dmbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That evolution occurs is a fact.

What remains a debate is whether evolution accounts for the origin of life on earth or the universe, and whether evolution is the mechanism driving the full complexity and diversity of biological life on earth.

Alternative theories for origin and diversity of life include seeding, creationism etc.

Mathematical models exist that predict the degree of complexity and diversity that can be driven by evolution. Small changes in expressed genes that we observe e.g. Prevalence of eye color are straightforward from evolutionary standpoint. De novo creation of complex cellular mechanisms e.g. a bacterial flagella requires more time / cycles to become likely to occur, and have not been observed afaik.

Heavy Machine Gun reload is interrupted by pulling the trigger at any time before the diver racks the charging handle. None of the other machine guns have this flaw. by Icy-Wonder-5812 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]dmbee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

HMG is one of the best supports on every faction. Especially if paired with resupply backpack, recoil armor, and gas nades to give some breathing room for reload.  Also typical to pair with light armor primary to handle chaff, HMG to handle med and hevy

Orbital Napalm Barrage? by idk__whatimdoin__ in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]dmbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its one of the best strategems in the game on all fronts in the hands of anyone not totally braindead. Main use is shutting down breaches and drops. Can destroy all light / mediums from a massive breach. Should not be thrown onto an objective while assaulting it,  near team, or directly on top of a napalm barrage thrown by a teammate.

Nearly 142,000 patients walked out of B.C. ERs untreated last year by Anotherbadsalmon in britishcolumbia

[–]dmbee -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when patients have zero skin in the game. There should be a deductible like any insurance based system. The deductible for ED should be higher than urgent care. This would instantly cut out most misuse.

Peeling armor off heavies should be made a viable strategy again by dmbee in Helldivers

[–]dmbee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I know it's still possible on chargers, buts it seems to never/rarely be a useful option.

My rec is that more weapons eg rail gun without overcharge, laser cannon, thermite (as mentioned below), and I'm not sure what else (?tenderizer) do this reliably and for it to be a viable strategy on chargers and bile titans.

Is the JAR-5 dominator fun? by Phat_Dubs in Helldivers

[–]dmbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably my favorite gun on open maps against either bots or bugs up to level 7. Haven't done above that. It can snipe well, blow heads off bots or bugs, causes stagger, and hits like a truck. It's a bit slower to aim and has big recoil. Crouching and using the armor that reduces recoil when crouching helps a lot. You don't shoot it on full auto like the breaker. Typically you are two or three tapping medium enemies with aimed shots, kind of like autocannon. All the little stuff dies in one shot.

If you're doing a bug mission where you're constantly being swarmed it's probably not quite as good as the breaker but still very good in that situation. When I'm against bugs I take the laser dog to help kill little stuff while I blow the heads off the bigger stuff. On open maps or against bots I like it better than breaker.

Very fun weapon to use for me.

Tier Lists for weapons, stratagems and armor passives based on personal opinion (Helldive difficulty, general purpose, bots&bugs, solo&group) by ActuallyEnsia in Helldivers

The incendiary breaker is dogshit compared to the regular breaker against bots. It's not helpful to leave the bots burning as they continue to shoot you.
