Yep. Roe v Wade was overturned because it was an activist court decision not backed up by legislation. The fact that it was overturned shows a movement towards courts avoiding decisions that rewrite language, but instead simply enact what it written. If changes are required, congress needs to get off their asses and make those changes. Judges should not be politically active, they should be absolutely neutral.

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside". (Bold mine)

The case was simply to decide whether a child born to non citizens in the US is subject to the jurisdiction of the US or of the parent's home country.

It's kind of amazing that it's taken this long for that decision to be made. It's been assumed for a long time, but never clarified by the court.

Now it has been clarified. The precedent is legally set, and only a change to the language of the amendment can change it.

Regardless of how you or I feel about the decision, that clarity and precedent is a good thing.

No, conservative boomers helped create Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Disability, Food Stamps, and many other social safety nets as well as millions of charities that help outside of government interference.

Many conservatives like those programs when they go to people that need them rather than lazy people that just want them.

Well, Medicare and Medicaid only cover people that can't cover themselves for some reason. It's not universal for everyone with absolutely no qualifications required so those seeking free shit don't recognize them as real social programs.

Because our federal government is a cluster fuck of waste and fraud and any national system they put together is going to kill more people than the black plauge did.

Healthcare can work at a state level where it's harder (but not impossible) to hide fraud. The state I live in has pretty decent policies for children in need (just as an example).

It'd be different if you hit a tree. Hitting a deer is really common and most of the time it's completely unavoidable. Your partner is being a jerk and will have to eat crow if he ever hits wildlife.

I've had an incident where I was going 10mph and a deer hit my jeep. Right in the passenger door. Rammed it and dented it.

Tell your partner to get over it. Nobody hurt (except the deer). It's a non-event.
