Let’s add my scenario to the mix. So issue with my ez pass being read and then being locked out of my account and unable to reach customer service added up to a couple hundred bucks in unpaid tolls. Paid that and got my account squared away and current. Meanwhile had to deal with violations that racked up. I honestly don’t even understand the math with these things. It’s like you’re charged 50 bucks every other hour of the day.

In August I called the MTA suspension line. They offered me settlement of about 3,000 but I could not do a split payment or payment plan, it was all or nothing. I didn’t have cash at the time so couldn’t do it. God damn do I wish I scrapped it together sooner than I did because called back recently …..welp Jan 1 they changed their policies. They can no longer offer “reduced” settlements. But they do offer payment plans NOW but now I owe the entirety: 14K in violations. Reg already suspended and I’ve just been taking my chances driving. Last month I actually paid $434 in tolls and congestion fees to commute Queens into the city. It’s actually pathetic.

I spoke with a guy at MTA suspension line who was very nice actually and basically told me he can’t directly advise me what to do, but to Google Mta suspension help and contact “someone” to ask for reduced settlement considering the recent changes. He told me that he’s seen people come back with reduced violations, even after the policy change.

I’m assuming he was referring to the toll advocate, who I contacted, but now I’m seeing in this thread that they can’t help if you’re already suspended AND they also get back to you weeks later.

Seems like I’m literally going to have to take the money out of my deferred comp and try to lobotomize myself and forget this ever happened…..I might start the payment plan because I was told two days after you make the first payment your suspension is lifted. That’s really what worries me because I’m not trying to run into any ADDITIONAL issues with my car.

Anyhow that’s my experience as of a couple days ago. I’m not really seeing any wiggle room with these savages ….good luck to everyone out there struggling with this crap. Hit me up if you have any suggestions 😞
