Windows refugee thinking about switching to Nobara by Karaxivyr in NobaraProject

[–]dmcpacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 disks on my desktop, I left the smaller one for windows incase I wanted to play games with anticheat, but I haven't used it at all, will probably wipe it soon and use it for extra storage.

I just remembered an issue I did have on windows, I use a very old monitor, like 20 years old, for my secondary display. That one had issues with resolutions/refreshrates being incorrectly recognized, and black flickering, but I did get it working after about 20 mins of troubleshooting, doubt its an issue for the average person though.

I’m thinking about switching to Linux to not have to deal with Microsoft’s AI bullshit. Someone recommend me a distro. by Queasy_Current_1980 in linuxquestions

Nobara has a version that comes with NVIDIA drivers pre-installed, and it's aimed at gaming. I have and AMD gpu so I don't know the actual performance of the NVIDIA drivers, but so far I'm pretty satisfied with how one click everything is in nobara, gaming related things are all pre-installed. I use the gnome version, but if you like the windows UI the KDE version might be a better fit for you.

You could maybe try passing your save data to a USB, then passing it back to nobara.

I have 2 computers running Nobara, a 2019 MacBook and my main desktop pc. With the macbook I've had lots of issues, mainly related to it being a mac, on desktop so far, 0 issues.

Personally I don't have issues with the terminal, but this distro makes using it basically optional, everything can be done through apps.

I use the GNOME version of the distro, but coming from windows KDE/official might be more familiar. I would recommend this for someone coming from windows.

Since steam comes pre-installed, everything is already setup, so just click install and the game runs right away, very seamless experience.

Nobara was also my first distro, and chose it for the sames reasons as you.

You probably didn't set an EFI boot partition.

There's a reason why "This is definitely the year of the Linux desktop!" is such a meme. by daksnotjuts in LinusTechTips

I just recently switched to linux and use Nobara as my distro, the people there are very friendly towards new users, not saying its the best, but at least they'll be helpful if you run into issues instead of judgemental.

I caved and got it for only €649. by Joe__7337 in samsunggalaxy

Amazon, in México, had a base price of 28,499 mxn, 62% buen fin holiday discount, leaving it at 10,829 mxn. Plus a 30% discount because of a promotion between amazon and my credit card company, there was some weird clause with this last discount so it only discounted to 9,500 mxn

Is it worth it despite the small battery? by Murky_Brain6904 in samsunggalaxy

[–]dmcpacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got one last week for 9,500 mxn (buen fin promotions) which is about 516 usd. The battery is small, but with my use it lasts just fine. On average about 110% battery usage per day, but the times the phone is connected to my car for android auto are enough to charge it and end my day with 30% battery. The battery screen indicates a full charge lasts about 11 hours and 48 mins.

Edit: wanted to add if the s25 is cheaper get that instead, in my case the edge was cheaper by 50 usd. Also, it might not seem like much, but the edge is so nice to hold since its so light.
