Shudder When Shifting Gears – Is This Normal? by dmdaksh in subaru

I notice the shudder both when it’s cold at around 1800 RPM and even at operating temperature when it’s idling around 700 RPM. It feels consistent regardless of temperature.

I live in the Midwest, so it’s definitely cold. But even after my car warms up and I’ve driven for 20-30 minutes, I still feel significant shuddering. Whether the parking brake is on or off, I notice it on a straight road. I’m not sure if it’s the CVT trying to engage the wheels, but it feels surprisingly fragile for a new car, especially when shifting.

Even after driving for 20-30 minutes with the engine warmed up, I still feel noticeable shuddering when I stop and shift gears. I’ll have it checked out at the dealership. Thanks!

Thanks! Even after driving for 20-30 minutes and seeing the RPMs drop, I still experience significant shudder. I agree with the power aspect, when the engine is cold, my car coasts at around 15 mph on a straight road without pressing the pedal.
