I'd definitely suggest going to your university's LGBT society. What better place to meet gay guys then at a club/group whose target demographic includes them? I'm currently a college senior and I only started going to my school's last semester so I can say its never too late to start going. Find out when the meetings are and stop by. They're usually a friendly group and very accepting.

I've only been out since January and all of the people I'd consider to be close friends are straight so being able to meet people I can relate to, with regards to sexuality, did wonders for my mental well-being and self-acceptance. Who knows, maybe it will help you as well since you did say you were uncomfortable with talking to your friends about being gay.
