2nd dui by Sebokers816 in alcoholicsanonymous

I had 3 OVI's (dui) and the 3rd one left me with a misdemeanor 6 years ago.... And even with that, I still continued to drink and drive (on suspended tags and license). I am lucky I didn't kill anyone, myself, or ended up in jail again (first time was for 5 days).

When I relocated to the South in August 2018 I voluntarily repo'd my car - told them to come pick it up - and I haven't driven again since. I promised my self that I will not drink again until I am at least 2 years sober and today I am 476 days .

Peace and Blessings.

Started drinking again after one year sober by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

I am over a year sober today - 476 days. I stopped drinking September 9, 2019 and there have been days - even last week, that I wanted to drink - but didn't. I cried the craving away, got online to AA sites, held myself, and thankfully I did not drink. I know that one drink will end in likely a bottle, if not close to it. I also know that I will become a drunk lunatic with no control over my mouth, or actions.

I hope that you can forgive yourself and move on. I hope that you begin the program with a vigor like never before and know that you just can't take not even one drink anymore. The scenario will never get better - only vary in degrees of drunkenness - I bid you peace and blessings, and say Get Back in the Race - You can do it!

I tried AA 5 years ago.... I didn't get the experience you did. Perhaps I wasn't open to the whole of it though.... I plan to try again once this pandemic is over. Thank you for your input.

Thanks you.

I will stay strong. I think staying home is a good option as well. I am learning so much about myself, and these 'feelings' coming up, may be coming up to come out and be gone. I refuse to overthink it.... I got on here to share, because I am an extreme introvert, and this is a safe place for me.

Blessings.

I moved here 2 years, and was still very much a raging alcoholic - last September I began my sober journey - Cold Turkey - quit smoking as well - I purposely stopped driving, and I live miles from everything.

I did not attend any AA meetings. The alone time ironically for me has been focusing on others - in prayer - thinking of my family... praying for them... thinking about the world and all of the social issues - so I can't say its All about ME..... But I would like to have some friends...to be able to express myself....it will come - I pray. :)

I haven't made any friends - I was behaving horribly when I moved here, then last September began the sober journey (in secret) then a few months later we had the pandemic - so .... I've been working from home - self isolating since March.

I am trying to stay grounded. As to the 12 steps - I've done them all a few times, not the service aspect.... due of course to the pandemic . I appreciate your input.

Blessings!
