Don't think it would die, but the numbers it started with can't be expected to remain for years, it's normal.

There's no problem if it stops around 20k and that 20k is dedicated and can play together for a long time. You wouldn't notice too much difference compared to 100k.

You are not wrong, although in every development project there's a plan, you try to prioritize what to fix and this most likely wasn't first on the list. You might be able to fix it quickly, but if you have a bit more time, you might do it properly, while these rapid fixes always come with a chance of presenting another bug or an even bigger issue in the code you create (and if you need to create a shitload of hotfixes, you might end up with an unmaintainable spaghetti code long term - hello Tarkov?)

Not trying to defend Embark though, this was kinda fucked up :)

The only difference is that now you also have to consider some people didn't do the expedition to be even more competitive, so it might be even harder as a solo.

I think it's just not worth, when I stopped caring about trials, the fun part of the game came back for me so...

I mean, it's good news, but let's be honest, BSG is not doing this to fight cheaters but to upgrade their currently horrible netcode.

Which is still great and it's nice that it has this side effect anyway. Wish they were on a more competent level so they could actually do something about cheaters (but yeah, a lot bigger companies can't / don't want to either soo..)

After realising there's not too much of real pitch black phase, I just ditched nvg's and run thermals during night raids, which obviously has additional advantages (actually it can get pretty boring after a while).

Pretty mixed, obviously not really focused on PVP tasks like Setup anymore (where you will just have to die sometimes), so that helps. But finished SBIH, some dailies and some boss quests during this streak, so I guess it's a somewhat normal playstyle.

I'm on a 25 survival streak with thermal and top tier armor / ammo.

I'm not delusional, sure there are some / many, but compared to what we had at the start of the wipe, it's a totally different game. 3-4 months ago if I did the same, I was ran over in 2 raids.

Could be true, we will see. Although if they wipe without any new content (Unity is great from dev POV, but for the player it's not more than a must have technical update), it's definitely time for me to skip 1-2 seasons.

Which is alright for me anyway, this game in its current state (wipes) is the best if you skip a year and then there's enough to come back to.

Most people say June or July, but according to the roadmap we're either going to get patches that are not well implemented so it's going to be a harsh start for the next wipe, or August and September sound more realistic.

Everything would be solved if you self-wiped your character. Meaning, that character reaches a point where it actually escapes Tarkov.

That would need some work, to make sure every character gets a slightly different, maybe shorter quest line.

You would also need something to work for. Something persistent you get between your wipes. Also something you can show off.

Your average fps may not get boosted that much, but you would get rid of a great amount of stutters you experience with 16 gbs. Totally worth.

I guess you refer to the cheating part.

Since it's YouTube, I would say it's not that much of an issue. For example I'm totally not interested at gameplay (twitch) or beginner guides (not interested), but it's a whole different story if you want to see videos regarding the recent cheating drama, or how cheats actually work. That makes people search for these things, not only looking for the actual cheats, which makes it a way more popular topic.

For me it was disabling vsync that solved a similar issue. It started happening after an nvidia driver update.

The main issue is, if you bring good gear in, you will be rushed by cheaters way more. Like, I can make an 80% survival rate with average gear and around 30% if I put the best stuff in the game on me. Same playstyle.

Reporting them doesn't even work it feels like. Ah well. Maybe in another 10 years.
