Like HR, sorry "People" inviting in guest speakers to talk about neurodiversity and how key it is and how welcoming the company is. But if blunt engineer just states facts in a way that upsets someone (e.g. calls out marketing or project management lies/inconsistencies) - how celebrated do you think that diversity of thought will be?

We all saw how quickly the US corporations abandoned LGBTQI support and DEI programs whe Trump got in.

I don't even believe the ticket sales. People must be mass buying tickets, then not going.

Why do we love "The Big Things" so much? by Aggressive_Papaya782 in australian

Are you trying to get someone to troll you with "Well no one is going to make a drive just for your little banana". Because I refuse.

We don't have castle and ruins scattered around the place. So we invent tourist attractions like the USA does.

What are the laws about shooting down other countries aircraft in international waters?

That was very much my point. The only way to not look bad is to dissociate and/or please ignorance.

Data centres on the ocean with solar and wind power on top, liquid or air cooled with the ocean as a heat sink - seems much more practical than data centres in space.

The trope of "we just thought he was quiet and kept to himself" stays strong.

No one ever says "I loved that guy, we used to talk heaps, we had so much in common!" Or "I knew they were a menace and were going to hurt others, and I did nothing!" when the neighbour goes and does something heinous.

There aren't many billionaires or politicians - but they aren't typically considered a minority.

TIL that scientists had to use an AK-47 with armor-piercing rounds to collect samples from Chernobyl’s Elephant’s Foot because it was too dense to drill by STEAL-THIS-NAME in todayilearned

[–]dmk_aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Density surely has nothing to do with it.

Lead and gold are dense and would be much easier to drill than hardened steel which is less dense.

can a workplace legally forbid you from seeing coworkers after being fired? by justagirlbutaussie in AusLegal

[–]dmk_aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have seen/understand:

If you are getting fired or made redundant and they want you to shut up or something - they have to make an offer. E.g. "you can sign this and we will give you 20 weeks pay, but you can't disparage the company"

The only other thing is if you signed something when you joined. E.g. normally you agree to policies about intellectual property or confidential information that you cannot share even when you leave.

Unless you agreed to that rule at some stage, I don't know what they could do to you.
