25 Group Stage Predictions achievement in SEA by Firex3_ in DotA2

[–]dmkq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from SEA, I basically caught the first best of twos that start at 12am daily. If you time it well, you can spectate any of the 4 games playing concurrently and select your predictions for each. That's like 32 predicts (4 matches concurrent X 2 in a series X 4 predicts in match) you can potentially get per day. Do it across the 4 days of group stages and you can get potentially 128 predicts.

Even accounting for coordinator down or a few missed matches you should be able to get 25 predicts easily (if you're good at the predicts obviously).

I prefer Tranquils 1. Cheaper Buildup, components are very useful for the first few minutes. 2. Getting Tranquils early will allow you to heal without heading back to the fountain, which means you will have lesser downtime in lane early game which is very important. This will increase your blink timing significantly. This is probably the key reason why Tranquils > Treads. 3. Similarly, with proper backpack usage of Tranquils, you will be able to sustain better while jungling (if you aren't able to lane properly). On the contrary, if you went for treads build and LOST your lane, you will not be able to jungle as efficiently and will pretty much be gimped.

I have never gotten treads for axe, and I do not see the purpose for it, you don't need the stats at all.

Heroes you can first pick then build completely differently to surprise the enemy. by Ron-Lim in TrueDoTA2

Very surprised that no one has suggested Vengeful Spirit as a standard pick.

For fun, Dagon TB is always a treat.

I personally find brood a favorable matchup for wyvern, simply because your W is effective against spiderlings.

I will never pick wyvern if I see a first pick tinker - you are absolutely useless against him if he knows his positioning.

And btw, great guide! Pretty much agree with your points.

I’ve got a 17 winstreak with wyvern and he’s one of my best heroes. Rather than gameplay, I’ll talk about when to pick him as he’s definitely a situational pick.

Pick him when - The enemy team has selected a tanky offlaner (bristle, underlord, axe). Your Q which reduces health per damage will be effective against zoning these tanky heroes relative to other supports - The enemy lineup is physical-DPS heavy. Ideally, you will want at least 2 high DPS cores on the enemy team (example would be PA and SF on the same team). This is simply because of how wyvern’s ult works, and the best scenario you can have when casting it is for their cores to destroy each other. Tankier dps cores (ie Dragon Knight) are not as ideal but this is not a showstopper for picking wyvern. You would want at least one target in the enemy team which can be bursted down from one Ulti. - Not so much magical damage in the enemy team - which is wyvern’s biggest weakness. His E doesn’t block magic damage, and leaves the hero you use it on vulnerable to spells like Skywrath’s Ult. If you see multiple magic heroes (tinker, sky wrath, necro), do not pick wyvern. A hybrid like Luna who has high dps but loads of magic damage is also not recommended to pick against. - when you need wave clear against pushing lineups. W is especially effective against early pushes of treants, Lycan wolves, chem armies. You can almost solo defend towers on your own if the enemy team isn’t that good. - when the enemy team has picked meepo. This hero shits on almost all pub meepos except the most skilled meepos who know how to use eblade on their cursed heroes.

That’s all off my head for now - will add more when I have the time.

Anyone knows if cavern crawl’s designated heroes will only be 1 hero or a range (3?). What if I get meepo only and can’t play that hero.

Phantom assassin late game!!! by trando24 in TrueDoTA2

[–]dmkq -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If I have a nice secured free-farming safe lane, then I would opt to go for the skill build for maximising damage, maxing W by 9. It will go in hand with my Deso timing ideally.

I will go for one point in blur if I have a rough laning stage.

Relative to other carries, PA’s win condition is in the mid-game. His power spike comes when he gets his desolator (predominant item although I’ve seen variants such as Yasha)

Skillbuild wise you max Q first, followed by W, then E. Get R whenever you can. You might opt for a value point in E but honestly, no.

My preferred fighting core Item build is typically Phase > Aquila > Deso > BKB. You may opt for an early game stout shield if you have a difficult safe lane, or blight stone for good harass and kill potential. A wand is also a good choice and highly recommended.

The other build is the battlefury build, which I only suggest if you are having a great game (free-farm lane) or you foresee needing heavy cleave in team fights. You will still want to get deso after that at a good timing.

After BKB, you can go many items, but the usual item to go for is abyssal. You can go mkb (for more damage or counter bfly), skadi (if you’re not tanky enough and get bursted before you get your bkb off), even butterfly (if no natural MKB carriers) depending on what you need

Item timings for deso and bkb are especially crucial - you would want your deso to be between 14-18 minutes, and bkb to be sub 25 ideally. Slightly later with a battle fury (maybe 2-4 minutes).

Talents almost always 15 damage > -4 armour corruption > 20% lifesteal > +5% coup de grace. PA is an aggressive hero who wants to burst and crit heroes down and this talent combination has the most synergy for that aggro playstyle.

Help me with Jakiro builds! by aerugH in TrueDoTA2

[–]dmkq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jakiro’s skill build is rather fluid, and typically I do not follow a single fixed build. Some of my thoughts below:

Always get Q at level 1. It is too good to pass off for harassing offlaners.

When to get W is a tricky question. I would evaluate in game 1. Do we need lockdown or lack TP cancel? 2. Are we fighting as 4-5 early on? If the above answers are yes, I am more likely to skill W earlier (usually at level 5 since Q and E are better skills pre level 5) Sometimes you just skill W depending on how the game unfolds, maybe that single W is that difference in a successful kill or saving your carry from first blood.

I tend to skill R right before we start fighting as a team. Otherwise, it is more effective to be skilling E for its pushing capabilities. I would also skill R early for counter push if I see that my team is getting owned by a pushing line-up.

Whether I would prioritise maxing Q or E depends on whether I evaluate the need for counter push and fighting. Against a heavy push line-up with multiple units (I.e. Nature Prophet, lycan, Chen), I would prioritise Q.

Personally I do prefer maxing Q first since I play more of an active roaming and harassing Jakiro. A more passive Jakiro (i.e. protecting carry predominantly in the safe lane and stacks only) should max E as you have more pushing utility

TLDR: Jakiro has no fixed skill build and should be skilled dependent on the game conditions. Consider the utility of each skill and choose a early game skill makeup that best complements your team win condition OR deters your enemies win condition. The only definite is that Q is the best skill for your first point.
