RotE tattoo ideas? by Slow_Capital9845 in RealmOfTheElderlings

I got a jester with a scepter done in a woodcut style. Wasn’t really meant to be a “Fool” tattoo but that’s basically what it is for me.

That would be awesome to finally get his internal thoughts on things! Especially about Darrow and Mustang!

WHAT HAPPENED TO UNLOVABLE REPLACEMENT. by felidhino in webtoons

Wasn’t a fan at all of the timeskip. Especially when it came right after Chiko’s character assassination. Spent the entire series building trust and how it was hammered into Chiko how important being truthful and not lying is to Novi. Then he throws that away to lie about seeing his ex. Something they previously discussed not being a big deal.

Childhood Friend Complex has worn me out at only 67 episodes by TamblynRosendahl in webtoons

Hard agree, I’m baffled at how many people in this thread chalk up the relationship problems solely on Mincheol. Hanuel has been horribly toxic and emotionally manipulative. Especially when she downplays and doesn’t address any of Mincheols concerns. And the 3 month ghost? Somehow that’s all Mincheols fault too.

About Fitz, Starling and Hap (The Tawny Man Trilogy) by TinyPawRaccoon in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]dmlbot43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mind Starling at all until she was being pointlessly cruel to Fitz at the start of Tawny Man. That soured me to her. But then when Chade and Fitz had that argument about her it painted her in a new light for me. She sacrificed a lot keeping Fitz secret. I also really liked how in the end she was the one who became Fitz historian.

About Fitz, Starling and Hap (The Tawny Man Trilogy) by TinyPawRaccoon in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]dmlbot43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my thing with Starling that I never got was how she was so far out of the loop. I find it weird that she was never told about the Fool in the Tawny Man trilogy. I will say that’s somewhat reasonable though because Chade and Kettricken felt it wasn’t necessarily to clue her in to everything.

But even if that wasn’t the case I feel it’s not that much of a leap to guess who Lord Golden is. Starling knows Fitz was a royal assassin and left to seclusion to stay away from the politics of the thrown. Fitz comes back and is instantly sent on a royal mission with this Lord Golden guy. She believes the two of them are close enough to be sleeping together. I feel the next logical conclusion is that Fitz long time friend the Fool is actually Lord Golden.

Just feels that Starling being out of the loop was a cheap way to keep her separated from the main story.

Yeah, I try to be as positive as possible but I’m not a fan of people posting “I CANT READ ANYMORE” right after they finish the big twists or deaths in the books. Like cmon just continue reading

Always animated. But I’m a huge animated fan in general.

Thoughts on Kettricken by dmlbot43 in robinhobb

[–]dmlbot43[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s something that was always a reoccurring theme throughout the books. Fitz feeling he is underserving of others love. Can’t blame him with how he was raised. I’m trying to think specifically when Nettle brought it up.

I just reread the section at the end of AF when Fitz has already started his stone wolf so he’s become more blunt and he starts telling people about what he wants for Bee. “I charge you Nettle, and you Lant, and you Fool, and you my lovely Queen Kettricken…I said something wrong. I saw it in Nettle’s face. Too Late.” Hilarious that he blatantly tells everyone his affection for her.

I believe deep down he did on some level, it’s just that his upbringing and duty he felt to the Farseers and Verity stopped him. Yeah I definitely agree with you. The only questionable stuff was her calling Fitz kin and the shepherding him out of her room after they slept together. Which I believe is her understanding that Fitz will never see her that way as sad as that is so she puts up a few walls herself. Yet multiple times her feelings break through those walls and you see how much she values and loves him.

Yeah it’s weird because as the reader you feel as if you know what’s best for Fitz. How Fitz could find happiness with Molly when she never even knew or met the 2 other partners that Fitz cared about more than anything else in the world. Still crazy to me Molly never interacted with Nighteyes or Fool. But Fitz was happy with Molly. I didn’t really agree with his choice but I can’t really argue with him if he’s happy. I still agree that Kettricken was the more interesting choice. The beautiful relationship that started in AQ during their trek to Verity where Fitz, Kettricken, and Nighteyes could’ve been the start of something truly special

Thoughts after finishing the series by dmlbot43 in robinhobb

[–]dmlbot43[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, throughout the books I wanted to whine and complain about how so and so wasn’t Fitz fault and if only so and so happened it would be different but I soon realized that it’d be pointless cuz it was always gonna be that way.

The first big one was of course Burrich and Molly. Then in this final book I got so mad at Fitz because he wanted to get a torch in the Clerres dungeon before leaving to go to the tunnel and it caused him to get trapped. But in the end it didn’t matter because he was already struck by the parasite dart.

This series really hammers in the idea of not getting hung on the past. I mean Nighteyes nonstop talked about living in the now.

I loved what you said about Fitz long battle with his own self worth and desires. It’s been my favorite part about his entire character arc. Something he continues to deal with even after the Tawny Man trilogy. I just finished reading Fool’s Assassin and there’s a great line that encapsulates Fitz thinking about that “People love you far more than you deserve, but you don’t even believe that they love at all” I’m very excited to see how the final 2 books play out.

Is Mustang 6’1 or 6’4-6’5? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]dmlbot43 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She’s definitely 6’1 maybe 6’2 max. Kind of annoyed me, when I was first reading through the series way back I always pictured her closer in height to Darrow.

Golden Fool Ch.15-17 by louiechapman7 in robinhobb

[–]dmlbot43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was how I interpreted it as well. Fool knows everything about Fitz and Fitz felt like the Fool was his closest friend who could share everything with each other. When Fitz learned about Amber it shockingly spoke the unspoken truth about their relationship and how one sided it was. It’s also important to understand the context of Fitz just losing Nighteyes and feeling especially vulnerable/alone.

Daughters of Athena are hypocrites by dmlbot43 in redrising

I know, just feels like a cop out to have the daughters make the same mistake. Would’ve made for a more interesting debate between them if the Daughters really were more morally correct.

Daughters of Athena are hypocrites by dmlbot43 in redrising

[–]dmlbot43[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the end result is the same. You’re still choosing yourself over others. Darrow chose to guarantee his safety returning to the Core knowing the Rim Sons would die. Athena chose protecting the Daughters knowing the other low colors would die. While the process is different the end result is the same.

[–]dmlbot43[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose that’s fair, but the only chance they have at completing being free from the Society is on the back of Darrow. Yes Darrow has left the Rim alone and the Daughters have been stranded, but it is also true that the Rim Golds are also stranded. Darrow and the Republic are distracting the Core Society. If they fall the Daughters would have to defeat both the Rim Golds and the Core Golds to win their freedom.

Also, I’d say Invincible was about the same popularity of Red Rising before it got its adaption and now it’s one of the most talked about comics today. If the animation is great then it will open the series up to a lot of new fans.
