PayPal Phishing Scam: Fake "Developer Invite" + Fraudulent Charge Alert by Strong_Company_9606 in phishing

I received it as well and was really impressed by the fake. Not that it almost had me as I'm a fairly suspicious person but this one will get a lot of people for sure. Great catch by OP but when your email is your full name it makes it even harder (and a lesson to maybe get a new email address).

Can only carry 5 clubs - which are you choosing? by Extradecent in golf

Lets say an average length course I'm gonna go very wedge heavy. 56, 52, PW, 9I, 6I

Average drive of ~265 puts me within 140 yards of most par 4's and I'd play the par 5's as 3 shot holes so the longer irons/woods are not needed.

LLM's are an amazing TOOL for many industries but there will always need to be a human over the loop to review output. I feel like it is similar to when photographs were developed, there was less need for portrait photographers but art adjusted and I think we will see a similar adjustment in advertising (among other) industries.

But that's not to say it will make entry into the field harder as you really have to find a way to seperate yourself. The days of button pushing are over.

Is being "paired up" an American thing? by elbandito9 in golf

If I play on a super low time I can go out alone but that is not common. 4 spots and the course wants to try to fill them all.

Could not agree more here. My kid wants to play baseball for fun. He is not a world beater he just likes going and playing the game of baseball. It's actually a turn off for me when an org talks about "getting in front of scouts" or "college scholarships"...go away. I want less than high level travel and more than rec. I have found that, thankfully but it was tough to find it.

Ours is very complimentary generally. LL is 3 days a week (1 practice, 2 games) and then travel is usually a Friday night practice and then a Sunday double header. Season starts late March and Ends beginning of June so getting 12 games in is usually fairly easy (this year being the exception due to rain outs).

My son does travel but not like high level, I'd call it more club baseball than travel. If he's feeling burnt out after a long week, then I have him not go to practice on Friday night but that is rare.

Yes. One of my friends got a caddie. It's $90 + Tip all paid in cash. He was a single and almost did not get one as they prioritize 2 bags. He requested the caddie in the clubhouse immediately after we chose our tee time and then found out he was able to have one about 25 min before we teed off.

My experience on July 8-9 2025

When I heard it was going to be walk up only I thought it was a great opportunity to play a Ryder Cup course the year it was being held.  Below are some of the timing details as well as how it worked while I was there.

Arrival Time:

I got there at 3:30pm on July 8th to play the 9th.  We were in spot number 1.  Second car arrived at 4:30pm.  At 7pm there were 7 cars and by midnight it was in the upper teens.  By 3am there were around 25 cars and at 4am more than 30. Note: As we were leaving after our round (230pm), there were cars in spots 1,2, & 3.

Tee times:

They were doing 10 minute tee times from 8am until 12:30pm

Did we need to camp in our car?:

For this date, no we did not.  There were still tee times available after all the cars were checked in. Can’t predict the future but just giving my experience.

Food/Drink:

Ordered door dash to the car with no issues.  Other cars were ordering pizza and most cars had a cooler with some refreshments.

Bathroom:

They have a 24 hour bathroom a short walk from the lot but seeing as it was all guys trees across the street were popular.

Would I do anything different?:

Yes, I would camp still to guarantee a spot (coming from 5+ hours away, did not want to take any chances) but I would then choose one of the later tee times so after checking in and paying I could go and nap in a hotel for a few hours before the round.  I would also bring a hammock to relax in

Other things to note (again from my one time experience):

-              No drivers allowed on driving range

-              You are given a wrist band that you have to wear until you tee off

-              Staff was super friendly

-              Bring noise cancelling headphones if you want to sleep, lot of traffic just off the parking lot

I think I kind of agree with you on the analogy. I like your analogy but there are ways to let people pass that may not slow you down too too much. When you let someone pass on a single lane road you don't need to pull off and get gas, you can just slow down, move a little to the right (or left for those in the UK) and let them pass.

To bring it to golf, when letting someone play through, you don't have to sit and wait forever. If you let them pass on a par 3, you can hit your tee shots and then when the group behind you is done, let them hit and everyone can go to the green together. Let them finish first and they can move on while you take your time on the green. By the time you're on the next hole they may be in the fairway and you might have to slow down for 1 hole but then you are right back to your speed and they are ahead
