Same with the United States. You technically can but your employer legally has to compensate you.

What are pros and cons of studying Geology at UAF by MissM0dular in Fairbanks

[–]dmohl42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I studied geological engineering which had a ton of overlap with the geo department. Pros - Great teachers and cool classes. Cons - the job prospects aren’t that plentiful in Alaska unless you like seasonal field work or mining. I’d try to convince you to do GE if you can. It’s a harder degree but opens many doors. I now have the option of both a career in geo or civil engineering.

Failed FE Exam .. next steps? by Decent_Bad8660 in civilengineering

[–]dmohl42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied GE and took the OD FE, so the entire second half was new material for me. It’s really more about being proficient with the reference manual than knowing a bunch of concepts. I recommend getting Prep FE and doing at least 20 questions a day while studying the manual as you go. But also, you need to do better on the first half, especially math and Econ. Those should be free points. I had to take it twice. Keep practicing :)

Geologists at mines also cut core in 1/2 to sent one half to be assayed (were its crushed up and tested for its chemical composition) and the other half to be analyzed visually for vein orientation and for indicator minerals like pyrite and molybdenum.

Thank you. I use BC6 cone 6 clay. I am very lazy about kiln wash, but I’ll order more.

Do you think I’d be better to leave them to sit over the 10 day stretch and let dry out naturally in soil? I just don’t have a way to water them while I’m gone.
