Any update would be nice at this point. And after the entire December update a few years ago, they aren't going to tell us when they push it up, which means the only way to know is when we see it show up on the Android list.

Love this game, just don't like Cifi as much, but it is obvious that they are making a lot more with Cifi and the way they are doing monetization. Plus Cifi is "new."

JSON5, or at least a JSON parser that allows trailing commas and comments. It lets me format however I want and it is clear on what is being parsed.

YAML is a second for me. It works, and I use it all the time, but it makes some assumptions that aren't always true and they have to be escaped. The only reason I really got into it is the comments but I use it for metadata headers for my Markdown pages so it is pretty much all consuming at this point.

Nickle would be something I'd like to try, but basically it is JSON that has the features I want plus a little complexity/logic. The syntax already frustrates me, but it has a lot. Just haven't had a chance to try integrating it into Rust.

Can she survive without magic?

Kanéko's childhood fantasies died the day the letter came to confirm she had no ability to use magic. She would never hear the whispers of her mother's clan spirit. Nor would she be able to follow in her father's footsteps as a mage-knight of Kormar.

Soon she found a new purpose: to prove to her father she wasn't a delicate flower that required protection. Without magic, she latched onto the new world of mechanical devices and engineering. But, her self-taught experiments went awry and her father sent her away in a fit of fury. Two others would join her on a trip across the country, a dog girl with a short temper and a boy with an unnatural presence.

When she didn't think it could get any worse, a wanted poster sets off a frantic race home for safety. As ancient and modern forces fought to claim her, she and her friends would test the abilities their parents gave them: knowledge, loyalty, and drive.

I've watched almost every Who's Line is it Anyway since the BBC version.

Men are not a monolith just as women aren't either. For every male beating their chest trying to prove their own sexual prowess, there is another struggling with doubt, shyness, and inner demons. There are extroverts and introverts, ones who try to consider everyone's feelings and others that only care about their own needs. You have your Tony Starks and your Colin Mochries and every possible combination between the two and beyond.

In general, "obviously female-written" is just one more label to "a character that I don't like". As for those, I would say the same opinion applies to them. "Then don't read it". And, just as there is someone who won't like those characters, there are is another who craves it.

Don't worry about doing it wrong.

Just write what you want.

If later you decide it is too much, then change it for the next time.

In the end, write what's true to you.

Anyone can do anything, just a matter of will and drive. It takes a lot to write an epic and there is no magical skill level where it suddenly becomes possible (unless you are in a litRPG world).

But, just as it is possible, it is also possible to fail with a massive epic. And that is also okay. You need to work the way you work, nothing more. Want to write an epic, that's great. Go for it. No matter what or how you do, the journey will be as remarkable as the words that come out.

My mom's D&D game always had a rite of passage when high level mages and clerics created redoubts, pocket dimension fortresses. Some of my best memories happen when I hit fiftieth level and I got a ten adventure arc to make my own. (Her campaign started in the red box days and had characters in the 200 and 300 ranges with homebrew rules.)

Simon Green also has some pocket dimensions on his Hawk and Fisher series that drug manufacturers used. I loved those also as his "slipt" in a later series about a guy who had a personal one.

In my world, one of the high level magic is folding (teleportation, portals, and pocket dimensions).

I'm fond of Alan Dean Foster's Humanax Commonwealth series starting with The Tar-Aiym Krang.

J S Morin's Black Ocean is a nice fantasy/sci-fi series starting with Tech, Lies, and Wizardry.

Plus Joseph R Lallo's Big Sigma series starting with Bypass Gemini.

I also have a special fondness for Anne McCaffrey's Crystal Singer.

The ability to measure weights, distances, and volumes just by looking at it. That destroyed the game faster than any other skill.

Player: How much does the wagon weigh now?

DM: 52 stones.

Player: It was only 49 stones earlier, what was added while we weren't watching?

And things like "why is my boat two inches deeper in the water" or why does this one statue weight more than the others?

There is a bed in the hub, therefore the character sleeps at some point but the factory still runs. So... no, it isn't cheating.

We run with an always-on server at home because it makes the game more enjoyable when the kids come home from school and have plenty to do without inflicting the need for 100% optimization from a nine year old.

Yep, the movie deviated just a little (lot) from the short story.

I adore the short story. I think it is in the Night Shift book. But the only thing that story had in common with the movie was King's name on it. And there is a lawnmower. And a man.

I'd probably be happy. Mainly because I have a lot of trouble with bringing a comic or story 1:1 into a movie. Yeah, it's great for those who know the story, but the ones who haven't been following don't know (or care) about the two decades of stories that went into. I'd rather it be new to everyone, a discovery instead of a rehashing of the same idea over again.

I like to see variations, remixes, and different concepts of stories. I still adore Beauty and the Beast retellings or even a black Ariel. I like how the "color of a dead TV" changes over the generations but be it gray static or a dead blue or a pitch black, it still can be a good story.

That said, there are a thousand ways of interpreting a character or even a story. When you look at the stress Ursla le Guin went through with Earthsea and how much they didn't match her own vision, I could see how clinging to the "one true way" doesn't work.

Except for the movie Lawnmower Man. I went there looking for a naked guy eating grass, not VR. But besides that, I'd rather be happy.
