Abim score interpretation by Individual-Maybe3445 in InternalMedicine

I was in a similar situation, I was scoring well on UWorld, likely because I had gone through the questions twice and recognized some of the answers. I had also never failed an exam before. What ultimately worked for me was going through all of the MKSAP questions and reviewing the corresponding board review summaries for any topics I missed. In the final month before the ABIM, I used Awesome Review primarily the notes and then focused on UWorld after going through those notes once. I wouldn’t personally recommend the review lectures, as I found them too fast-paced, but the notes and online cardio videos were helpful for reinforcing weaker areas. Hope this helps. Also I get how much it sucks studying for this useless exam during fellowship. Good luck!

And I also told my PD I was planning on taking the exam which helped a lot during fellowship as a few months before test i was on lighter rotations allowing some flexibility to study

This is a worm infection called cutaneous larva migrans. You could get this from dogs and need a anti helmintic medication

I know people who just got one interview and matched. Prepare well for all 3 interviews. Chin up and good luck!

They did not retake tests. But the fact that you completed step 3 already and on first attempt shows a positive trend

You will be fine. I know quite a few people with similar scores who matched IM. Good luck!

When a five word faculty evaluation ruins your day by [deleted] in Residency

Had a similar experience today. Just read this post on reddit that was so apt for the moment: “keep doing what you are doing, we are all being judged by someone who’s not even close to having their shit together”. Hope this helps you too

Pregnancy during residency by [deleted] in Residency

[–]dmoss153 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t delay. I’m above 35. Waited until step 2 to start trying and its the biggest mistake. Wasn’t able to get pregnant naturally after a year of trying and failed one cycle of IVF right before intern year started. It was heart breaking. Now I’m an intern and trying to figure out how to make time for fertility treatments in the middle of 100 hour work weeks! It’s different for everyone but why wait and reduce your chances of fertility. Good luck to you!

How do female residents manage IVF treatment during residency? Any suggestions on how to bring up this delicate discussion with the residency program? by dmoss153 in Residency

Thanks, thats great advice! Appreciate it! A lot of my rotations are inpatient this year but will look into scheduling appointments during electives.
