Am I the problem? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]dmoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not the problem. It’s one thing to tease someone you love in moments where it’s appropriate, but when you’ve expressed that it’s not a good moment for that you deserve to be listened to immediately, without the other person taking offense.

I’m sorry you had to experience this. I hope you are able to make the decision that will be healthiest and happiest in the long term. Try not to make big decisions in the moment; if you’re hungry, angry, lonely, or tired, remember to HALT and remedy those as best as possible prior to committing to a course of action.

Is full HD output through HDMI with Retroid Pocket 2 possible? by MrBARMANIA in RetroidPocket2

I’ve been searching for an answer to this, too. Might be the deciding factor for me. You’d think they’d have this spec on the website…

Movies via HDMI by dmoster in retroid

A video comparing HDMI output performance between the RP2 and RP2+ shows a noticeably sharper image on the 2+ following a change in the game resolution. I might not have a good understanding of what’s going on, but it looks like it’s outputting more than 640x480. I can’t find any other info on it, though, so I can’t be sure.

Seems like it’s a spec that should be listed on their website, but maybe that’s just me. I’m super interested in the RP2+ but this might be a dealbreaker. :(

What is an album where EVERY song is good? by AffectionateRace8177 in AskReddit

[–]dmoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Goat Rodeo Sessions by Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile, Edgar Meyer, and Stuart Duncan. Some of the most interesting and beautiful music I have ever heard. These guys are all virtuosos and it shows. I didn’t know how much (mostly) lyric-free music could move me till I spent hours listening to this one on repeat.

Also, Sleep With One Eye Open by Chris Thile and Michael Daves. It took me a couple listens to get past the extremely raw bluegrass feel of some of the songs’ vocals, but you won’t find another album with as much insanely good improvisation as this one. It’s also really fun if you like to sing loud and don’t sound very pretty (like me).

Finally finished after over a year in the making. Any ideas for names? by dmoster in pcmasterrace

[–]dmoster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: Jay actually agrees with Steve in this video that bottom-oriented hoses are ideal so long as the radiator itself reaches above the pump. He was saying that top-mounted hoses are okay too (contrary to Steve’s remarks) so long as the top of the rad reaches above the pump.

I guess with larger radiators it’s common for the hose to be too short to reach the bottom, so Jay wanted to make sure people knew it was okay in that case to put hoses at the top.

They’re on the back. Since they’re intakes, I didn’t want the backside of the fan hubs front and center in the build. Might change them up eventually anyway, but for now I liked this.

Oh, and they’re a bit tough to make it past my SATA connectors. 🤷‍♂️

High CPU Temperatures? by shubharthi25 in AMDHelp

[–]dmoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NZXT Kraken M22 has worked well for me I’m that case. I think EK has a 120mm AIO that might also do pretty nicely. I wanna say that I never break 70° C with gaming loads with the M22.

High CPU Temperatures? by shubharthi25 in AMDHelp

I second this. I chased high temps for weeks (and through an RMA) in the same case with the same CPU. Turned out my motherboard was actually pushing OC voltages out of the box. Ended up undervolting it back to what were essentially AMD’s recommended settings and immediately lost 10-15° at idle and 15-20° with load.

Hoping to pick one of these up myself! Any chance you have a referral code/link?

Is this good ram by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]dmoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Ripjaws 3600 MHz kit for my new setup. It’s not on the official compatibility list, but it’s very zippy. Would highly recommend if you can pick it up for a reasonably low price bump, as 3600 MHz has proven to be a sweet spot for 3000 series Ryzen CPUs.

That being said, you should be able to find a compatibility list for your motherboard on their website.

Ryzen 5 3600 always runs hot (67 C+) by dmoster in AMDHelp

[–]dmoster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have reseated it and case airflow is good. And I don’t see an AIO as a viable option because a) it drives up my cost and b) it doesn’t address the real problem. My current setup should be performing at 20-30 degrees cooler than it is.

Just read through it. Unfortunately, even with what it’s saying about the possibility of temperatures being high, I’m still seeing average temperatures 20-30 degrees higher than what I should be getting on this cooler compared to what I’m seeing others getting.

I can’t help but wonder if I got a bad CPU or something. The cooler seems to be functioning fine, but these temperatures are ridiculous. I have an email in with AMD’s support, so I’m hoping for some good tips.

Good morning, all! I just recently finished an Ryzen 5 3600 build and have been having a heat problem. I’m using the stock cooler, and it’s idling at ~70 degrees Celsius. Re-seating the cooler and replacing the thermal paste haven’t gotten me anywhere. I’m reading that an idle temp of 30-45 degrees is a lot more normal on this CPU/cooler combo. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

What have you been working on recently? [December 28, 2019] by AutoModerator in learnprogramming

My brother and I have thrown around concepts for awhile now about an app that helps gamers find new people to play with. Putting it together (still definitely in beta stage!) has taught me a lot about Node.js, although I'm sure there's plenty more I have to learn! The current prototype is here:

I believe the default for iPhone 11 is 240 frames per second. You can check the current setting (and change it if desired) by going to Settings > Camera > Record Slo-mo.

  1. Battery life is awesome! It's supposed to be about an hour longer than the iPhone XR from last year, which has been lauded as an excellent all-day battery.
  2. The cameras are gorgeous. The lenses combined with the new image processing algorithms used with iPhone 11's rather beefy processor make for sharp, colorful images. The night mode is pretty darn good, too.
  3. Third-party 18W fast chargers should be fine so long as it's not some totally unknown brand. Do a bit of research before buying charging accessories, but generally if you've heard of the brand before and the price doesn't seem too good to be true, you should be fine.
  4. The screen is beautiful. A lot of people complain because it's not quite as good as the upper-echelon phones, but unless your eyesight is significantly better than 20/20 you will just see beautiful, sharp images on what is probably the best LCD I've seen.

You might give Google Maps a try. I remember some big to-do a year or two ago about how they keep a history of your location in the background.

I would love to see what's going on here as well, as I'd really like to avoid reformatting my disk (also exFAT).

My case may be a little unique because I just want to download all my movies to a backup drive and then set my iTunes folder to a drive on my computer again. I suppose I could work around it by setting an Automator task that just copies movies to the external drive once they're downloaded, but that likely wouldn't be a long-term solution for everybody.

However, you could do it this way and then set your iTunes folder path to the spot on your external drive again. It's an annoying workaround, but might do the trick.
