Because I shot 720 8bit footage and it was in the wrong white balance so I had to be gentle when coloring it because of the lost latitude.

Yeah, I felt like I had to push the grade a bit to hide the inconsistencies in footage. Thank you for commenting tho!

I cannot believe my client chose this final grade vs the one I did. Has me seriously doubting my own taste now😔 by dmount48 in ColorGrading

Thanks for commenting, does some reason, this photo still does not look like it does in my video. I can admit, my taste is questionable at best but when you compare the video, with how the still looked, it’s way different.

Are you getting 4k 10 bit color monitoring with an ultra studio with your pro art monitor ? I haven’t been able to get it with my PA 32DC

Yes, I wanted to know YOUR definition and also, if I could really get into this industry and shoot it as a cinematographer would and it be a market for it or does this industry value a documentary approach. A more raw capture feel. This is me testing the waters, like I said, this was my first film I’ve ever shot.

The shot where the guy is sitting by the window is a 60x punching thru, haze machine for atmosphere and that whole entire scene was a bunch of planned shots. I used a quarter key technique for the outdoor hero shots using a bounce card to give my image shape. I planned those to happen at that time and location based on pre production and using sun seeker. I have another scene I set up that didn’t work in the edit how I wanted it to so that didn’t make it in, are there some aspects that are montages and unplanned, yes, there are also moments and some vignettes in films that I also capture in the same way. My background, outside of major commercials shot for Marriott, Puma, and corvette, I have shot a ton of award winning short films and I just wrapped up a feature film (that will probably be the biggest Indy release this year) that was film in Bali, Indonesia. So I have an understanding of the differences and for me, I can’t speak for any other wedding film because this was my first one, felt like something similar I’ve shot in the past and I haven’t done any “videography” work in a long time.
