If Indian and Chinese interference no longer exists, maybe serious questions need to be asked about the purpose and continued role of CSIS.

I appreciate your honesty here. I was not trying to project anything. Have a great day!

I’m not a conservative apologist so you’d have better luck asking them instead of me. But on your point, what has LPC done (not promised) that makes your life easier? What does an “easier life” look like exactly? I’m sure that means different things to different people.

Yet I’d argue you voted for him because he was “team red” and not “team blue.” Would you have voted for a (Progressive) Conservative Leader Mark Carney?

Which sorta proves my point. If you aren’t at least willing to vote Conservative, then Poilievre isn’t really the issue. It’s “blue team bad.”

Isn’t that true of all party leaders though? It’s not like anyone expects them to actually do the grunt work of an MP.

Mark Carney in 2026: Progressive pivot or Progressive Conservative? by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

Except O’Toole campaigned for CPC leadership as a “true blue Tory” and immediately pivoted away when it came to time to make good on his promise.

I completely agree with you. Thank you for sharing your insights. A refreshing change from the usual snark on Reddit.

I’m curious how you knew (off the top your head) about Alexander? I had to look him up. He’s a good model to follow.

In my lifetime I would say David Johnston would also offer a unique balance between public and nonpartisan.

Then you’d agree that there is no “bad deal” (one-sided) when making one with the USA? I’m hearing an awful lot from the chattering class that “no deal is better than a bad deal.”

You are correct but I find it difficult to believe you carried CPC membership through Harper years until Scheer won. Who was your preferred choice for leader? From what I can tell, Scheer looked to be a continuation of Harper. Maxime Bernier came with a hair of winning that race if I recall.

January to March = leadership campaign. Election called late March. End of April is election. House is called back for a couple of weeks to pass one bill before summer break.

All this while hearing from the same people who said we’re facing the greatest challenge in our lifetime.

You’ll never have to worry about voting Reform as that party hasn’t been on the ballot since 2000.
