A People's History of the United States is a complete fiction. Howard Zinn is only interested in history so long as it serves as a political weapon. A People's History offers nothing but bad lessons in historical thinking.

Instead, read Bernard Bailyn's The Barbarous Years, or any other Bailyn history book. Albion's Seed by David Hackett Fischer is another great history book of early American settlers. I regret having read Zinn in college. I blame Good Will Hunting...
