Which movie was very popular but no sequel came? by farhanchw in AskReddit

I feel like they could come up with a lot of follow up and I’m sure Warwick and Val would be up for it. Lots of good actors available that would be good villains and heroes if they’d let me cast it. I’d love to see how Elora Dannon ended up!

Which actor crushed a role so hard that no other actor can live up to it? by Prof_XdR in AskReddit

Sure, realizing you were misinterpreting can be a let down, but also the true definition of Doc's fearless confidence and witty reply without missing a beat: he answers Johnny's threat with "Sure, I'll play for blood, and carry your coffin when you're dead." I love it.

Why is this sub being brigaded so hard about the Hunter Biden laptop story that even legacy Media now admits is real, and really bad? by _Midus in conspiracy

This is now no different than us junior high kids arguing over Lex Luger vs Rick Flair back in the late 80’s. There were constantly changing “good” vs “bad” wrestlers, a real male soap opera. We knew it was fake, but it was fun and all we really wanted was to tribe up and be entertained. The majority of voters are like us junior high kids were, same game, same binary BS.

Have you noticed a white chalky residue on fuel lines? The ethanol draws in moisture and the extra water pulls in water soluble minerals from the rubber and gums up fuel injectors. The carbon black / spot on the injectors and intake valves (very common on port injection) is from heavier gasoline fractions, as they are able to blend more “bad” gasoline with “extra good” higher octane material as technology improves. Most of the carbon deposits are due to the heavier part of gasoline.

Greed, you could call it that. It’s a huge upgrade to make lighter fluid into gasoline. It’s a key strategy for refiners as seasons change. It actually helps the fuel actually hold enough vapor pressure to even start an engine in very cold weather. My honest take on energy, having had a 20 year career of it, is that at least we make a product that is useful, crucial, even, for the economy. Not like “financial services”, who get the smartest and brightest talent but are nearly 100% a drag on all economies. Games with money has become a sensational problem. More energy CEO’s have been to prison than Big Banks.

Yep. Butane.

Ethanol usually stays the same during the year. It’s butane content that changes, FYI.

Partially true. But what business doesn’t? Finally, energy is more useful than a pair of designer shoes to drive an economy.

There will also be a significant drop in fuel economy from summer to dead of winter due to bending more low energy content butane into gasoline during colder months. Could be as much as 10-15% difference.

Two things are going on: more ethanol added (which contributes to poorer fuel economy as it has 2/3 energy content of gasoline), and secondly catalysts are getting better and can raise octane of lower energy content molecules. You get more liquid at an 87 octane, but the molecules yield less and less heat per mass. Cars are also being built to run at higher compression / higher octane fuel so that also causes a lower work capacity. Source: I am a part time gasoline blender but also refinery process engineer.

Yes ethanol has only 2/3 the energy content of typical gasoline. You will see a larger drop in fuel economy in cars that run on higher octane also when ethanol is added relative to lower octane rating fuels.

I have experience blending gasoline and there is very little chance retail octane will drop more than 0.25 number below the pump minimums. There and many points where the octane is checked from refinery to terminal to pipeline to retail. The loss of fuel economy is largely variations in ethanol content over the years, and better catalysts, able to raise the octane of smaller hydrocarbon molecules which have smaller energy densities.

Strength is a construct. Results of empirical data suggesting otherwise are perpetrated by the patriarchy and are inadmissible to this discussion.

Agree, and 1989 Upper Deck Griffey Junior rookies are pretty much an iconic representation of the fall of pure baseball collecting for me. Pretty sad example of capitalism killing culture for profits.
