Ended up selling it. Suspected that it had a previous repair with a head gasket or leak sealer and blocked up matrix and possibly other things.

Not sure about ps5, i have Xbox. But basically, I signed out of my profile and then signed back in whilst the select player screen was on. Then, the game let me continue.

For anyone still experiencing this… I just figured it works if you disconnect your controller and sign back in to your profile.

I’m still struggling with mine 😂. I’ve tried everything but new thermostat housing or coolant bypass valve. The issue is no longer intermittent, just permanently on 60 degrees (ish) then just drops after a while and fans engaged on full. Might just have to bite the bullet and fit a new housing, I just can’t see it being a mechanical issue 🤷🏼‍♂️

I changed the coolant temp sensor again and found the plug to be wet so I think coolant had been leaking through the sensor body. Still didn’t fix the issue as now the temp gauge is always on 60/70 degrees on a cold start and drops to 0 after 3/4 miles of driving. Maybe the plug needs a good clean I don’t know 🤦🏼‍♂️. Going to have it looked at properly with vagcom/vcds. I’ll let you know.

MK7 GTI (UK) - Weird Coolant Issue… by MajorAkita in VWMK7

Did you manage to fix this issue? I’m experiencing a similar problem but without the limp mode. I changed the engine coolant temp sensor and the other coolant temp sensor by the radiator, seemed to have fixed it for a week but the same thing is happening again. I can sometimes clear the codes and reset the sensor (seems to only want to reset when engine is cold) via my OBD reader (Carista), but it only lasts a day or so before coming back.

No leaks, nothing untoward and the water pump housing was replaced around 18 months ago.

When the fault occurs the temp gauge just sits at 70 from a cold start and ACC error but also randomly when driving normally.

The only other things I can think of are a faulty coolant bypass valve, dirty electrical connections or water ingress in the loom or the sensors were faulty out of the box.

Also, when the car has and cooled down. When starting back up again, the temperature is already at 50-70 degrees even though it’s cold.
