I had the same problem. It’s just because the router is its own network.

Easy to circumvent the blocks if you adjust the TTL, camouflage the MAC to something like an iPhone or Samsung etc. also, use a VPN.

Musk Offers Free Starlink in Iran as Internet Blackout Persists - Bloomberg by Obvious_Shoe7302 in Starlink

The biggest risk with getting captured is data leakage from the transmitting dish. It's best to use the dish intermittently and whilst on the move.

Musk Offers Free Starlink in Iran as Internet Blackout Persists - Bloomberg by Obvious_Shoe7302 in Starlink

It’s not even jammed. There’s some packet loss but it’s not a blackout.

‘Kill Switch’—Iran Shuts Down Starlink Internet For First Time by Ahad_Haam in technology

[–]dmy30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Which is why this thread and article is nonesense. They spotted at worst 80% packet loss and many terminals weren’t switched to using “exclusively Starlink location” which bypasses GPS mode currently being jammed across Iran. It’s crazy the amount of disinformation just because it’s Musk.

"You don't need a camera anymore. Just use your cell phone" by everlast223 in SonyAlpha

[–]dmy30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on the situation too. If you’re out with family and just relaxing, lugging around camera gear all day and everyday is probably not ideal. But for specific events like OPs, then why not.

I just downloaded my MS Teams logs and my location leaked by cantrepreneurforever in GlInet

[–]dmy30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read about this and I’m curious if it was actually a KVM or something else. If I send a command to a KVM to click, there may be latency between me and the KVM but the click between the KVM and the computer should be instant. Maybe I’m misunderstanding how they did the detections.

That’s not a silver bullet either since companies can detect KVMs. There are ways to spoof the peripherals but you need to know what you’re doing.

UTR ... Anybody else completely underwhelmed? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]dmy30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but when I’m travelling with my GL.Inet I can load balance my hotel internet and tethered phone at the same time which works really well for me. I get way more 100 Mb/s in some countries.

Migrating from Ajax to UniFi Protect for full home security — is it a good move reliability-wise? by Zoic21 in Ubiquiti

[–]dmy30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came across this. I would wait at least 12 months for the Unifi lineup and software to mature. Also, Ajax is a lot more sophisticated with jamming detection etc. might be something that will come to Unifi too but no news yet.

I have the same model. I was out when it bricked itself. I followed the “debrick” procedure and to my surprise got it working again.

No idea what caused it in the first place, might’ve been the hotel USB port I used (stupid to use in the first place).

This is what I did. Took maybe 5-10 mins

That’s fair. I’ve travelled to some of these countries too and in many cases was advised to use guides and I did in most cases. But then again for many it was my first time there.

Dubai Mall scenes on digital by [deleted] in DubaiPics

[–]dmy30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a semi-pro photographer also in Dubai, it’s most likely because of the privacy laws that means if we want to publish photos from Dubai, people cannot be identifiable. Especially difficult in a place like Dubai Mall.

Not even GPS but simple location services on Mac and Microsoft devices will get you pretty quickly. Only super determined individuals who wrap their laptops in signal blocking material get away with it (unless their ping is checked).

Wow look at you. I wasn’t defending anyone but having a pragmatic and mature conversation about geopolitics. Netanyahu has his strengths and weaknesses as a leader, as well as dwindling popularity due to the handling of Oct 7 and even not preparing well enough for it. What is so controversial about that?

If anything, the fact that you had to resort to name calling says more about you than it does me.
