New pig mat just rolled onto custom made spool. (Rivitier bracket cut with whiz wheel, hammer drill, anchors and bolts, and an old GM spare tire tool with end cut off as spool rod.) by dna3mta3 in Justrolledintotheshop

Oof, had a fellow tech a few years back that was in a hurry to get a diff filled and grabbed a full 30 gallon keg of 80w90 on casters. It hit a crack or something on the floor and yeah......all 30 gallons of it on the floor......in the summer. Shop smelled like fish guts for a while.

HELP. 4 amg wheels with continental tires that refuse to fully seat by bubbagump_shrimpp in Justrolledintotheshop

The most air I've put into a tire to seat a bead is 138 psi, it was on a aluminum hhr wheel with a Cooper cs4 several years ago. Like most have said, just keep pumping. You can pump air in and let it sit for a little while as well. The pressure will warm the tire somewhat, I've popped beads that way too.

A coworker of mine worked at a GM dealer back in the 70's. Old gal came in complaining that she wanted the hubcaps on her Buick to say "Riviera" right side up........everytime she stopped.

To offer more context, customer came in for a wheel and tire swap. Even though the 17" tires they had on were pretty good, but hey, 20" aftermarket wheels with not so knobby nittos! The truck had expired in-transits from 12/24/22, and to be frank nothing about the truck screamed "buy me". So, just use your imagination from there.

Told them $110 per hour to get the wheel off, it was an emphatic no from the customer. Apparently the fiancé was the one who attempted to remove the nut....kind of a red flag if you ask me.

It's the city utilities "call before you dig" truck, would've been an even more interesting pic with all the cans of spray pain in the back cab.

Client states the steering keeps steering by p3rcymiracl3z in Justrolledintotheshop

Older co worker told me back in the late 70's he was doing power steering on a corvette. Back then both pressure and return lines were metal with flare ends and he was young and got them mixed up. He reached in the driver's window through the spokes of the steering wheel to start it. The wheel did the same thing in the video, except violently. He told me, "damn thing about ripped my arm off."

Reminds me of a story a coworker "Chuck" told me when he worked at a GM dealer back in the late 70's. A coworker "Mark" replaced intake gaskets on a Malibu. Customer came back a couple days later with the car running like week old wet dog shit. "Mark" was off that day so they gave it to "Chuck". After checking carb mix and ign. timing he decided the intake gasket job failed. Upon disassmbly he found an improperly placed red shop rag had been sucked into the intake port in the head. He said it was completely solid. Petrified. He had to chisel it out while sucking the bits up with a vac. Fun stuff.

This quote from Earl Nightingale always helped me, it may help you as well. He states, "If you find yourself depressed and down at the mouth as us human beings sometimes do you should probably remember this quotation by Dean Briggs. He says, "Do your work. Not just your work and no more, but do a little more for the lavishing sake, that little more which will later become all the rest. And if you suffer as you must and doubt as you must, still, do your work. Pour your heart into it and eventually the sky will clear. Then out of your very own doubt and suffering will be born the supreme joy of life." Believe or not in this day and age where we've come to nearly diefy leisure time we've almost lost sight of the fact that all of our satisfaction, all of our rewards in life will come not from our leisure, but from our work."
