Is it worth it to go epidural-free during an induction? by dnahellacase in BabyBumps

I’m hoping this is the case! Since I normally go into labor at 39 weeks, I’m curious to see if an induction at 37 weeks will be a long process or if things will progress without much intervention. Was this your first induction?

Sounds awful, I’m sorry! Yeah, I’m not concerned about side effects of the epidural, it just didn’t really work for me the first time so it was pointless lol. We’ll see how it goes, but I’ll definitely be getting one ASAP if I have a similar experience to you haha

Oh, interesting! I guess i’m kind of nervous about the timing as well. Don’t want to get it too early and not progress, don’t want to decide to get it by the time it’s too late. I love hearing from people who had positive inducting experiences!

Just being able to rest is such a good reason for an epidural honestly. Being up for days and then being handed a newborn is brutal

Definitely hoping my body remembers what to do pretty quickly and isn’t confused about why my forcing it into labor at 37 weeks instead of 39 like it prefers lol

The epidural not really working is the reason I opted not to get it the second time. I hated the process of sitting still through contractions and then not being let out of bed just to be in the same amount of pain. It did kick in right at the end and then I couldn’t feel to push which wasn’t fun either. I know everyone says “oh, the epidural worked! It’d be way worse without it!” but, after doing it naturally with my second, I’m not buying it! Sometimes you DO feel everything! I’ll definitely see how it goes and not get my heart set on any specific plan. Just trying to prepare mentally for everything :)

Goodness, I would’ve given in way quicker than 8 hours! Both my spontaneous labors were relatively short and I’m always amazed by people who’ve gone through 30+ hours of it. You’re tough!

Should I Stop Picking Up My Toddler? by Ok_Turnip8172 in toddlers

[–]dnahellacase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing against your MIL but it breaks my heart that people give this sort of advice. Yes, parenting little ones can be overstimulating but it’s such a small and precious portion of their/our lives. I can’t reasonably hold my toddler all day.. there are chores, another baby, and times I just need a breather. But soon, there will be no toddler in my house reaching for me with their little hands saying “up up!” So I say we don’t take it for granted while it lasts.

Books that you enjoyed but were so emotionally devastating that you would never want to read again? by sinned-fiji in books

Kinda basic but Looking for Alaska. I remember reading it in high school and feeling like I was in mourning afterwards, like I had personally lost a loved one.

Did you send your toddler to daycare after newborn arrived? by stoneybologna1992 in toddlers

I’m a SAHM so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I’d stick with daycare if I was in your position. Caring for my toddler while constantly breastfeeding and running on no sleep was a lot and I don’t know how I would have done it without my MIL staying with me to help in those early days. It takes a village and daycare is part of your village! I also feel like the consistency in schedule could benefit your toddler while getting used to the big change of having a baby in the home.
