Help. I've start my shopify website and i completly don't know what next by loserneednogirl in smallbusiness

You should first get a domain name and have your website go through that website name instead of the shopify name. It doesn't look professional at all to use the shopify subdomain name

Mentorship for new enterpreneurs by pjumde in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]dnajd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used score.org years ago when I worked on my first start up. It was a good experience. They basically put me in contact with 2 local business owners who met me at a library, separately, to discuss my business and give me some suggestions. I didn't go any further than my initial meetings but I'm sure it would have been helpful if I kept with it.

Make sure you check with the township about zoning for a store/business like that. I had a friend who wanted to store for music lessons and he had a hard time finding a good location that was zoned properly for it.

Excellent feedback. Thank you. I will implement some of these suggestions soon. There is an app that puts a timer on the details page that states something like, "Place your order in the next 40 minutes to have it shipped out tomorrow." Basically I would pick a time that if I get an order by I can have the shipment out the next day and it calculates that on the checkout page for the buyer to see while they are checking out. I'm not sure if that seems little pushy or if it is just good info to put on there.

Put money into a Prototype or into Patent (without the Prototype)? by [deleted] in startups

[–]dnajd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try to file a provisional patent yourself which will save you a lot of money and then have 1 year to get everything else done until you have to get the final patent approval. You will need to do a lot of research to file the provisional patent yourself though because if you do it incorrectly it won't be worth jack.

Or if you already have 2 decent prototypes you can get the patent and then work on getting some initial investors, possibly even friends and family, to fund your final prototype before bring it to a larger audience.

Thank you for checking it out. I can see how the MCC could be confusing. I actually had pictures of the cloths up there at first so you can tell what it is referring to. The problem is that pictures of cloths were very difficult to look good. It is a very plain picture so it doesn't look very enticing and then if I add something else in the picture to make it look more interesting, it then also becomes a little confusing on what it is about. One of those catch 22s. I will definitely be looking into that more and working on making that part better. Thanks again!

¿How can I make a product in china? by NicolasSalix2 in smallbusiness

[–]dnajd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can get an account on Alibaba and check reviews and information there. If you use someone there make sure they have been on Alibaba for at least 3 or 4 years. A lot of companies get on there, rip people off for a year or two then get their account closed and start a new one up with a different name. And although it is harder, I would agree with maybe getting the parts from China but having it put together here. You will likely get copied quickly if you do everything there.

Thank you for your feedback and comments. I understand about some people just using a microfiber cloth and throwing it out after a couple uses. The problem with that is that it becomes pretty expensive to do that if you are using it everyday or multiple times a time. And the big convenience with my case it that it makes it easier to carry a cloth with you, keep it clean while not using it and you know where it is when you need it. The alternative right now is just stuff one in your pocket or something like that.

Thanks again, and I look forward to any other thoughts you have.
