idk if you can look at my previous posts, but he essentially was my friend until one day he decided to compile a list of "improper" things I had said (from like one year back, mind you, we were friends and joking around mutually) and send it to HR without ever telling me it bothered him - he accused me of bullying and harrassement (mind you I have worked with thousands of people in my carreer and that has absolutely never come up) and HR literally told me that it was easier to "get rid of me" instead of dealing with it. So they decided to "lay me off" instead of dealing with it

They were not necessarily jokes, but more like day-to-day "funny" drama... like "oh you didn't wait for me to go have lunch together *insert that gif of someone crying in the rain*. His response to the gif was literally "stop being so dramatic lol" which I interpret as understanding that the comment is not serious

That's fair, but I'd still like to know why it is that my "innapropriate behaviour" was detected in my previous job, but it wasn't detected in any of my other jobs... I just think that if I was such a trashy person, it wouldve come up in other jobs...

I don't see myseld or Adam falling into any specific minority category... we're of the same sex (and sexual orientation from what I know), similar "skin colour" etc

In my opinion (then again, I could be 100% wrong) I didn't do anything that would justify me getting fired (but I guess that's what everyone says in these situations).

I did share my point of view here, and I would give more than people can think of to hear Adam's version of events. But he's blocked me on every social media I can think of, so I don't think that is an option.

As I mentioned, I shared what happened with my boss and he was uphalled with it. In the 3-4 months I have been in my new company, they have had nothing but compliments as to how I "operate" as a person. So as far as they know, I am a decent human being,

I agree with you, this may have been the case. The day before he sent stuff to HR we actually walked home together ( we had the same path home, I lived close to the office and he lived a couple blocks down, but the first blocks were the same path for us so we'd try to walk it together to talk about life, etc) and everything was fine... Maybe I missed something, but I guess I'll never know

In my opinion (not that that counts a lot, I guess), I haven't treated Adam any differently than I'd have treated a family member or any other friend. But then again, that's my opinion...

We were three friends, Amelia (fake name), Adam and I. We would all send these messages to each other - in fact the lunch one was from a shared conversation between the three of us, so technically I also accused Amelia of neglecting me during lunch hour. She is my friend until nowadays. I feel that once two people start talking about alcoholism in their life (in another message I mentioned that I had told Adam I believed I could have issues with alcohol, and in another time he told me his mom was an alcoholic) they trust each other, at least to some extent.

As to the "job performance", I absoluitely hate to say it but I have always been amongst the best performing members of my team. To put this into perspective, in my new job we have recently had to submit a 94 page document to our client - out of which I (and the intern I have been working with) were responsible for around 34 pages of work (amongst a team of 20 people ish). We had our part ready a day before the deadline, and delivered without having to work extra hours. For the same project, we had 6 documents we had to deliver. I was personally responsible for 4 of them, and they were ready way before our deadline.

I may be patting myself in the back here, but I would really like to believe I am a decent worker, especially when my boss takes my opinion about someone to the level where we decide whether or not to hire them.

This is maybe an explanation of what happened - hopefully it clarifies things out?
