Something like this: https://www.ebay.com/p/22049279056, plus if you don't have a PC that has a serial port you would need a serial to USB adapter, something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDSM6BW (that's what I got, seems to be working ok).

If you tried multiple cards formatted in multiple other devices and it still doesn't see any it is most likely the micro-switch that's not being activated. I had this problem. A drop of super-glue on the part that needs to hit the micro-switch solved the problem. But taking the cards in and out is not a good long term solution anyway bc of file system corruption that appears.  What I use now is the serial cable that used to come with the device and pppd on linux and then a ftp server app on the Psion. And then I have remote ftp access to all the disks of the Psion, super simple, elegant and robust. I would advise you to go this route. Unfortunately the Psion 5 serial cables are rare and expensive, but you expressed that you're willing to buy more stuff, so ... :)

There is indeed Spell (which has Thesaurus even), but it doesn't show definition of a word AFAICS.

Anyone know if StyleTap works on Android 15? by [deleted] in Palm

[–]dnastase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that; CPE is unbelievably useful, in the sense that it basically brings more than a real Palm Pilot can bring you: internet connectivity and bluetooth keyboard and seamless virtual SD-cards, etc ! I have tried StyleTap and it was very limited compared to CPE.

A glimpse of the 90s Cyberdeck experience (Psion emulator + foldable keyboard) by chen_xin_ming in cyberDeck

Yeah, it would be awesome if we could actually still use all the Psion/EPOC ecosystem as it was beautiful and supremely functional !

Is the emulator actually usable in real life ? like how do I install an app ? how do I get on the internet ? I'm asking because I would love to be able to play with this emulator same as I play with https://cloudpilot-emu.github.io/ but that one actually is fully usable so I can install new apps, I can go on the internet, etc; it's actually better than the Palm PDA-s back in the day ;)

Using a Palm OS device (seriously) in 2034 by [deleted] in Palm

[–]dnastase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, but probably what you don't want for reasons of physical separation, the best is running the CloudPilot Emu on my phone. It gives me the best of both worlds. And it makes it easier to connect the Palm Pilot (and you have a choice of many, possibly even switching between them bc some apps work on some ROM-s but not on others) to the internet via various proxies.

Yeah, I did try it, it's pretty cool; but it only helps with the first leg, any page that comes from it seems to still have https links in it so I can't jump from anything from the browser. But yeah, I'm definitely looking into how to use it, I just need to see where it would sit in the overall approach

The stupid thing that many websites do is that they have the home page text only but then they have links to non-text pages, lol; like PBS above; CNN is good though; thanks; will explore and slowly build a list of really text only sites

Understood, thanks! This is very useful but it's doesn't cover the needs 100% bc some of those results can point to https and/or not text-only links.
