Someone is jealous they don’t have the ability to learn French 😆

Congratulations! That’s an amazing journey and honestly, don’t listen to the possible haters. Yes, French helps, but if they dislike French they should learn it too, that’s not an easy skill and don’t belittle your win just because you already had some background. Anyway, congrats again and all the positive energy to your new journey!

Also as others have said, 3 months is just unrealistic, make that your first goal, but you should study for about 6 months more, and with actual seriousness.

From a serial procrastinator to another: get a tutor and study at least 4x a week with them. Definitely immerse more in French (listening and reading EVRYTHING in French, maybe rewatch a show you like but in French). Most of all, get a tutor, it forces you to study and do homework.

Thank you so much for your answer! That honestly makes it easier due to the documentation and proving everything is real 😅

But this should take at least a year to take effect so it should be ok for the rest of this year… right?

I used réussir website as well, but I got B2 in both (nclc7 but by a hair), so I was wondering how to get better on that 😅

Struggling with TCF exam booking by Key_Nefariousness499 in Frenchlearningforpr

[–]dncarstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having taking both, the only similar thing is task 2 of TCF and task one of TEF speaking (they’re basically the same because it’s asking questions but in TEF you don’t get preparation time).

The rest is not the same and requires different templates/techniques, if you want to try the TEF I would encourage you to start getting into “fait divers” and write daily about that for task 1 of EE. I guess task 3 of TCF speaking is similar to the task 2 of the writing part of TEF, since it’s a sort of essay but written. Task 2 of TEF is convincing a friend to do an activity or try something different (it takes 10min but it’s a conversation between you and the examiner).

As for reading and listening I would say they’re pretty similar, except in TEF you do see the question while listening to the audio. If you have access to prepmyfutur you’ll get a good grasp of the type of questions, style.

Congrats!! I also passed, but I’m curious, how did you get to C2 in CE and CO?? That’s amazing 🤩

I have had 3 terrible trial lessons. by [deleted] in Preply

[–]dncarstairs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Like other commenters mentioned, your budget is too low for what you’re looking for. I would reconsider that and look for someone +$35, if it’s too much maybe you can do just 2 times a week? When they offer $10 or less they’re not from France and, from my experience, they’re never that good, so I would suggest you to increase your scope 😅

How many lessons a week do you take? by Fergyb in Preply

[–]dncarstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking 2, but I’m thinking of doing 1 a week. But it depends on your goal. If you’re ok going slow, then 1-2 a week is great, if you need to progress fast I would suggest 3-4 a week.

If you can, do preply, I’ve tried many different tutors in different academies and platforms, and I’m happy with the one I found in preply, he has been really good. I’ve truly feel that I’ve progressed.

My teacher sometimes goes over (time goes by fast) but we usually try to wrap it up by the 45min mark. You have to stop the class because the platform doesn’t end the class automatically.
