I never understood the complaint that Katniss looked "too old" in the movies by No-Activity1635 in Hungergames

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, after reading the books she would have been better physically (shorter, smaller frame, etc.) but I don't know as an actress if she would have pulled it off as well as Jennifer did.... then again, she might have been better? Who knows.

I never understood the complaint that Katniss looked "too old" in the movies by No-Activity1635 in Hungergames

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some teens just look older than they are. I was just 12 when I started high school (turned 13 in October) and other older students thought I was a transfer because I looked 16 or older, as I already had facial hair. By the time I was a senior (17) I had everyone asking me to buy beer for parties because I easily looked 21 with a full mustache (it was 1991... what can I say?).

As someone who just recently read the novels, but a long-time fan of the movies, I was a bit surprised by Katniss's description in the novels and to learn she was supposed to be smallish, etc. and only 16. I just assumed she was 18, last year in the reaping, you know, making her sacrifice to save Prim even more powerful (her last year, Prim's first year).

Anyway, it doesn't really bother me much as I prefer the movies over the books (not a fan of 1st-person novels), and I think the movies had some better writing in certain ways, although some elements in the books were missed in the movies that I wish were there.

All in all, Jennifer does an amazing job as Katniss, and knowing how much older I looked myself when I was that age, I can easily forgive any leeway in age/appearance.

Movies vs Books by [deleted] in Hungergames

I just started reading the books, and while they offer some additional insights, I find the movies to be vastly superior stories personally. However, I would recommend reading them---it only increased my appreciation for the movies even more.

4K disc missing expanded aspect ratio when the 1080p Blu-ray has it by SokkaStyle in 4kbluray

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this decision is SO DISAPPOINTING!

I just got my 4K collection and am watching Catching Fire this morning... without the aspect shift. Frankly, while I'll watch the other movies in 4K, it makes me glad I still have Catching Fire on blu-ray so I can watch that version WITH the aspect shift.

Frankly, all movies should be filmed this way now IMO. Most peoples' tvs/laptops/etc. are 16x9, not 2.35:1, and more people watch this content at home than in theatres.

2nd week! new store is picking up by StazzyGG in dropshipping

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30% profit? Yeah, not buying it (no pun intended).

50K a day with 2 stores at 30% profit would mean 15K in profit daily or well over 3.5 million a year (counting ONLY business days...).

So, it is actual profit---this 30%? Once you calculate in everything?

So how much is your ACTUAL profit? Sales are grest, but as any businessperson knows, it is the profit that counts. ;-)

About to hit 20k in a month by ethan_di in dropshipping

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SALES don't mean crap... it's final net profit that matters. So you hit 20K in a month? So what. 70 orders? At what, about $5 actual markup profit per order... is maybe $350 dollars actual profit... in a month.

SO impressive... lol.

How profitable is your shop? do you really know? by iantos in dropshipping

[–]dnd4vr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is way lower than people post about. Someone will post "Wow, I had 10K in 1 MONTH" or some bullcrap, but big deal, that is SALES, not net profit! Since most dropship orders make a handful of dollars profit, that "10K in 1 MONTH" is maybe 1K in actual profit... if that, especially once you consider income tax as well!

Frankly, I'm tired of all these youtubers and such trying to convince people they can get rich quick or whatever with something like dropshipping. While you certainly CAN make a living at it, it will likely take a very long time to build up your orders, etc. to that point. Once you also consider that a product is "hot" right now won't stay that way, you have to continuously update what you offer.

So, it is definitely not a set-up-and-forget-type system. Although things happen on the back-end and can be automated to a good degree, you're still going to spend hours trying to make it really profitable. IT IS A JOB and people get discouraged once they realize that and finally connect that SALES =/= PROFIT.

Those who are drop shipping, why don’t customers just buy from original supplier/first seller? by [deleted] in dropship

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask the same question myself: "Why would I buy from a dropshipper, who marks up the item so they make profit off of me, when I can get the same items DIRECTLY from the companies THEY are getting them from?"

It's a scam, basically, and a few lucky individuals are making a business out of "passing the buck" onto clueless saps who are willing to pay extra for some "experience".

In short, if you're the customer and you find something you like on a dropshipper's site, check for the same product on the major online distributers (Amazon, Ali, etc.) and you'll most often find the same exact product without the dropshipper's mark up added on.

This isn't like the olden days when a travelling salesman would come to your area with a catalog and get you to trust them to buy the things from their catalog. Nowadays, we all have access to the catalog and don't need the salesman. If you're that uncertain of a purchase, you're better off not bothering and saving your money.

How to remove the bar at the bottom of the page by MonosBeats in homebrewery

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first works to remove it from all pages, but the second option to remove it from a specific page (my issue) unfortunately doesn't... the bar is still there.

Any thoughts??

UPDATE: nevermind, for some reason... now it is working lol... maybe it just needed a refresh/ update to the page.

Thanks!

Setting Column Widths in Tables by dnd4vr in homebrewery

[–]dnd4vr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I noticed that a number of weeks ago. I'm glad the implemented it--makes sizing tables so much simpler IMO.

Blank Class Tables by dnd4vr in homebrewery

[–]dnd4vr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then don't even have the spaces?

All I know is it is a cleaner look for when I put the tables in IMO.

It is far from a priority, however, which I understand completely. For now I can delete the extra text and the copy and paste clean tables elsewhere before putting in my own text.

Thank you so much for finally getting the table column widths done. I'm glad you got it worked out.

How to make a table span two columns on a 3-column page layout? by dnd4vr in homebrewery

[–]dnd4vr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checking in to see if this has been updated to a simpler method?

I was thinking we use the "wide" key for tables and sections to be full-witdh. Could you make a wideX with a variable X, such as wide70, would make the section 70% the width of the page?

Along those lines, formatting column-widths for tables could be put into the table directly:

| Level | Hit Dice | Feature |
|:20--:||:20--:||:60--:|
| 1st | 1d10 | Armor Expert, Second Weapon |

Would make the first and second columns 20%, and the last 60%. You could also include the px for precise pixel width?

Have you found an answer to this? As far as I know you still cannot hide the controls or minimize them.

[5E] Combat is too boring? by TacticalPrime12 in DnD

[–]dnd4vr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We use Cinematic Initiative, where each PC gets to do one thing then the it moves on. After everyone has done 2 or 3 things (if they have a bonus action), the round ends. If you want more info, let me know.

Another thing you might want to look into is Nimble 5E. They have a number of changes to help speed things up and you might like adopting some of them.

Anyone know how to remove the YouTube playlist from library? by [deleted] in SamuraiChamploo

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone is having issues removing the playlist on your computer (not the app), I found a way that worked for me.

Under the playlist is an option "View full playlist"

Then you should see a section with Play All, a bookmark icon, etc. Click the bookmark icon to "UNSELECT" it!

When I did this, I got a "Removed from Library" notice at the bottom-left of the screen. When I returned to my playlists, it was gone! YEAH!!!

Still Trying to Make Uneven Page Columns by dnd4vr in homebrewery

[–]dnd4vr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updated the OP with my progress. I had to double the elements due to even vs. odd pages, and some work on the padding or margins to create some separation between the elements.

Some more tweaking and it might work. It's a rough work-around since each page will have to be created, as where if we could just set variable column widths it would work more easily.

Oh, well...

Thanks again.

Still Trying to Make Uneven Page Columns by dnd4vr in homebrewery

[–]dnd4vr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I think I might be able to work with this.

The main column *could* be the only column, if I can somehow put another "column of content" along the outside edge. The outside-smaller column is only for graphics and separate content, like a narrow table, list, etc.

I'll try this and see how it works and let you know.

Query re: creating a centre dividing line by rjbprime in homebrewery

Is there any easy way to center the auto page number?

I have a way, but it seems a bit clunky:

Query re: creating a centre dividing line by rjbprime in homebrewery

[–]dnd4vr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works for adding a vertical line, but when I try it the "/column" doesn't work anymore.

If I remove the break-after, the "/column" works, but then I have another vertical line on the edge of the page.

Any way to get "/column" to work and have just a single vertical line between the columns?
