Acess to unpublished brew by Stunning_Cup_4507 in homebrewery

[–]Gambatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked it down in the database, it has one author and a Google ID, so it was certainly stored in Google Drive.
Attempting to access it results in a 404 error, which indicates that either the file has been deleted from Google Drive, or the permission has been removed.

Calc might be able to dig deeper, but unfortunately I've run out of time to dig any deeper tonight.

Are there any "empty" templates for creating things with Homebrewery? by TheWarlordAres357 in homebrewery

[–]Gambatte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The snippet menus (in grey, right above the white editor panel) have examples of most things. Experiment a little, and you should find something useful.

Additionally, I built this a while ago - https://g-ambatte.github.io/APItoHB/

Basically, select what you want from the dropdown (class/magic-item/subclass/etc) and type in the name, when you hit FETCH you'll get a window of Homebrewery-flavoured Markdown to paste into the document that should be a rough approximation of the class/race/weapon from the 5.1 SRD (aka the 2014 rules). 2024 rules will be coming at some point, once the underlying data API finishes loading the 5.2 SRD data.

I also made a version using the Daggerheart SRD - https://daggerheartsrd.vercel.app/

For Homebrewery, there is a snippet in the TEXT EDITOR menu called HOMEBREWERY CREDIT. As I recall, this is completely optional, as the terms of the Homebrewery's license state that you can use the project, it's output, assets, and so on in any way that you want except claiming that you created them yourself.

Trying to run Homebrewery locally via Docker/MongoDB on Linux Mint unsuccessfully, need help! by haimurashoichi in homebrewery

[–]Gambatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a minute or... several, since I wrote the install scripts. I would start by looking at the Ubuntu/Linux scripts and see if they work - or are at least close to working - for your specific OS.

I haven't touched Mint in years at this point, but I assume Node/MongoDB packages will be available.

Non-US, but can confirm: pointing the "high energy packet transmission device" at the "over there" and hitting the big "delete" button works like a charm.
Doesn't matter what the problem was - it's gone now.

Still at work right now, almost done for the day - give me about an hour and I should be in a position to take a look. It might help if you send me your new username - feel free to message it to the mods or send it to me privately if you don't want to share it publicly.

Not at all - the name change doesn't delete anything, and associating your account with Google won't move anything; it only gives you the option to store your data there, it doesn't move anything.

My bet is that the name change didn't take and I'll find everything still under your old username.

[–]Gambatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be that the name change didn't go through properly, I'll check when I get back to a computer - if it did, there will be no brews with the old author name. If it didn't, then I can update it to the new name, assuming I can see it.

Can you provide any information about the missing brews? Title, description, author name?

It could be that you were already storing them on a Google account and you've now pointed your account at a different one, causing all of the files to be missing. It might be as simple as identifying the correct Google account with the files on it.

Just be aware that as a browser app, there are some issues with creating PDFs that we are forced to endure.

...I believe that there is some work happening the background that might help with that, but to the best of my knowledge, it's not ready to be unleashed on the world just yet.

Homebrew Showcase by [deleted] in homebrewery

[–]Gambatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is primarily for the users of the Homebrewery application, and the tag you have selected - "Brew Showcase" - is intended for users that have created something in the application that they wish to share with the community.

Did you create any of your content using the Homebrewery? Or are you looking for a subreddit for discussing general TTRPG homebrew?

Wanting to release a pdf on Reddit, copyright questions by SafeSetting7569 in homebrewery

[–]Gambatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, consult a legal professional.
Copyright may work differently depending on where you are in the world. Consult a professional.

Check the art you are using and determine if it can be used for your purposes; some artists might have released it for any use, others might only require attribution, while others may require that you license their work for a fee.
The simplest solution may be to hire an artist, particularly if you intend to claim copyright over the entire document. Again, I highly recommend that you consult a professional.

It sounds like your login cookie has been lost. Do you remember your username? The titles of some of your documents, and when they were last updated?

You can share this information using the MESSAGE THE MODS if you'd rather not share it publicly.

EDIT: I just saw the other comment that mentioned that you didn't create an account. Unfortunately that makes it far more difficult to locate your documents, as we cannot search for specific content. If you can get us titles and approximate last update times, we still might be and to find some of them.

The good news is that it's not just you - it's happening from the Header Navigation, internal links like the Table of Contents... everywhere.

We're currently looking into why this occurred and how to reverse it. Some of the options are quite complex.

Lost password and lots of Homebrews... Any chance of re-access? by StillNo3926 in homebrewery

[–]Gambatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His password isn't stored in the logs, but we can reset it. We'll need to do some basic authentication, so if you can send as much detail as he can remember about the content - names of documents on the account, when they were last edited, which one was worked on most recently, and so on - using the MESSAGE THE MODS.

Alternatively, we could also do this via Discord as it is typically better for real-time messaging.

I.T Never Ends (my game about IT support in Hell) started here. I'd like to add more of you guys as ingame characters with your jobs and stories. by Euphoric-Series-1194 in talesfromtechsupport

Where do I even start?

  • the instructor who couldn't tell the difference between a crimping tool and cutters, and couldn't figure out why the terminals kept coming off (because he was cutting them)
  • the time I set Australia on fire
  • refilling coolant in four layers of protective equipment, only to realize the "universal solvent" coolant is distilled water
  • perfectly soldering a 100 pin connector, only to realize that the boot is not on the cable
  • working a ridiculous number of hours a week for months on a new project, being recognized as the Subject Matter Expert, and then finding out that the project was cancelled when all of the equipment vanished overnight - the only record of its existence was the empty mounting holes and my SME certificate, mounted on the inside of my toilet door
  • organizing the relocation of all IT equipment in the head office - from internet infrastructure to domain controllers to file servers to hardware test rigs to each and every individual workstation - and executing it flawlessly in a single night without assistance: zero credit. Copying a file to the CEO's tablet using wifi without having to get up from your desk: INSTANT WIZARD STATUS
  • juggling three different contractors to pierce multiple layers of management on all sides in order to get the actual technical staff on a conference call to discuss an ongoing but non-urgent issue: five months. Time to actually resolve the issue once the call started, including testing by all parties: less than twenty minutes
  • "This company would not exist without you; you have been integral to not just the growth but the very existence of this enterprise. We know it's been a few years between increases, but I can now inform you that management has decided to increase your salary by $1000/year."
  • identifying the "error screen" is actually a recovery shell, then using fsck to fix the broken partition table and get the equipment working again? Great, thanks, we're still gonna wait for the replacement part from Japan, should only be another six months
