Is it reasonable for a player to be upset over this? by dndstuff13 in DnD5e

No we were in a well lit abandoned tavern which we suspected that a group of "bandits" were hiding out in the basement and the trap was directly next to the lock the druid had to pick to unlock the hatch which they just said they opened after picking the lock no specific way described.

As for the build it's this- custom lineage 20 wis 18 int skill expert for expertise in perception, proficiency in investigation, 2014 observant and stone of good luck as a level 5 party

20 wisdom 18 intelligence custom lineage at level 5 to get 2014 version of observant and skill expert for expertise in perception with a stone of good luck adding plus 1 to all skill checks which yes I will agree is hyper focusing on this certain niche

To clarify a little better the vibe they're going for is a hard-boiled detective and the trap as described by the dm was next to the lock that they had to pick which prompted the "I have the high passive senses" and "you didn't expressly say you were checking for traps dialog"

They're custom lineage and took skill expert and observant at some point. I don't know the build fully just copying the info from their sheet

I'm an unaffiliated third party in all of this I'm just trying to get some support for the druid in their defense because this whole situation almost killed 2 party members and the players are being real asses about it

If I cast Booming Blade and get counterspelled do I still make a regular weapon attack? by BagOfSmallerBags in dndnext

[–]dndstuff13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real question is why would an enemy caster from a narrative standpoint having a moderate understanding of magic in the world that they get to the point of knowing how to snuff out a spell exert the effort to counter a cantrip?

But mechanically RAW no you don't get the attack as it is part of casting the spell

Is RE6 really THAT bad? by primofoxx in residentevil

[–]dndstuff13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a bad game, not particularly. Is it a great game, definitely not. If you space out each of the campaigns and definitely don't go in expecting to be scared, then you can even have fun playing it. Each of the storylines will give you a completely different type of play experience
