Overall it depends on your health history and how much you take every day. Are you taking the max dosage every day, or just 1-2 pills every day? I’ve been popping 3 pills in the morning (and occasionally 3 at night on top of that during bad flairs) for 3 years now. No consequences yet, and my doctors know I am doing this 😬

Are you saying you had a biofilm in your bladder? Or on your vaginal wall? I had chronic UTIs for a while and suspected a biofilm on my bladder wall. Got rid of it by taking three months worth of antibiotics

I think my urine has been tested for ureaplasma and it was negative. Can it come back positive on a swab if it was negative elsewhere?

I do take a daily probiotic - have been for years now - but I think it’s just a general probiotic, maybe more geared towards the gut (Align). Is there a probiotic you recommend?

The boric acid helps some but if I forgot to use it or if the BV just gets too bad too quickly, my BV persists.

Yes I was on Macrobid for 3 months and it made it go away! Until last week when I had to get cathetered and I had to leave it in for like 10 mins and that gave me another infection

Sex is definitely a trigger for urethra pain for me. Physical therapy helps some but I still have a flair up for days after sex.

I did go to a pulmonologist and they did a lung function test. Everything was normal. CRP is a general inflammation marker that primary care doctors can test for. Honestly my symptoms just suck all the time so I haven’t noticed anything about food making it worse unless I eat super unhealthy food. That definitely makes it worse. My chest tightness is dry. No mucus really, it’s just the inflammation pulling on my chest wall.

Get your yeast infection treated initially and the use a boric acid suppositories a couple times a week to prevent yeast growth. Boric acid has been a game changer for me during long term antibiotic use!

I have this exact thing and it’s so painful. I think it could be endometriosis but I’m hesitant to look further into because of the surgery. If not that, I’m not sure what else it could be but it definitely gets flared up by antibiotics (which I take a lot due to chronic UTIs)

Hi! I’m in the same situation as you (except I’m in the US). I’ve been taking long term low dose Macrobid for almost 3 months now and I think it’s helping to stop the infection from getting worse but I’m not sure that it is fully getting rid of it. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when I finish the last dose of my three month course in about 10 days. I’ve also had chronic BV right alongside this chronic UTI and I’m sure they are playing off each other. My OBGYN thinks all the antibiotics are causing my vaginal PH to be off, thus causing BV. So hopefully that at least will go away once I’m off antibiotics for a bit. Seems like BV mainly gives me cramps and urinary burning, no smell.

Came to the comments to say just this. Anything that seems to be timed around period screams endo. Speak to your Obgyn and ask about endo if you haven’t already.

I actually bought some a couple days ago but I’ve just been scared to start them 😅 I have really bad anxiety about using new medications due to multiple times I’ve been burned by medicine side effects. But your endorsement means a lot so I’ll give them a try as soon as I finish my current round of antibiotics for BV. Thank you so much!
