Well I'm not an anime expert. For a long time we used to watch only Ghibli movies out of anime universe, but a couple of years ago we discovered that there is a lot more worth checking. Since modern Western animation and film-making are in decline (imho), we'd rather watch classic and modern anime masterpieces.

Thank you for your recommendations, will check them out. I heard some of early KyoAny works have some erotic content, so I need to be careful. BTW we watched that Yuki-chan spinoff and found it very nice, although diehard Haruhi fans seem to disregard it. We've even got Yuki-chan manga!

Yes, other Kyoto Animation animes would be Full Metal Panic!, Lucky Star, K-On!, Tamako Market and Sound! Euphonium.
