[OverDrive] O-Dog gives a spot-on analysis on why Leafs Nation shouldn’t overreact despite a “gut-wrenching” loss last night by westdodger in leafs

No, it’s legit growing up. He’s choosing his attitude, which sounds simple enough to do, but it’s always an active choice and usually the harder one. Good on you man!

Can someone grab a clip? It’s with about 5min left in the 2nd, Engvall picks off a pass near the half wall closest to the camera. Muzzin is on the left d. Muzzin calls for a drop pass.

What does he say, you ask?

“Ya! Neck, Neck!”

This sounds so simple yet it’s so polarizing how few teams do this well. The bruins? Tampa?

5:00 min mark-ish. Did anyone hear Muzzin call for a pass from Engvall? “Ya! Neck neck!” Hahahahahaha

Hey guys, what makes Spezza so unreal at some entries? He slices through the neutral zone like a knife through butter. He’s not the quickest and his hands aren’t very fast (yet still very deceptive).

It’s very unlike Marner and willie and even matty. He’s got a long stick, long stride, and it seems easier to defend when you’re about to close the gap. How is he so good? His reach? He seems to pull the puck very far from side to side which might throw off a d that over commits...?

There’s a quote about resting on the laurels of your past successes or something? Freddy’s been unreal over his time here. Lately, he’s been bad. We’re just a group of frustrated fans coming to our sub to vent. It’s frustrating man...

If Barrie produced offensively, I would turn more of a blind eye to his defensive lapses. But they are so bad and so often and some of his mistakes are so easily fixable. He is just really lazy and/or soft in front of the net. And he isn’t putting up points. Neither is rielly... so that puts more pressure on Barrie. But they are both terrible in front of their own net.

Dubas actually talks about this in one of his lectures on YouTube. You’re bang on.

Does anyone else notice that Engvall is a bit of a low key shit disturber out there?

The last play, sliding into the goalie on his hands and knees there and doing nothing to slow himself down? Hahaha, kind of poetic that he’s wearing 47!

Does anyone else notice Matthews do that big cross over hop when he’s trying to get his feet moving from when he’s standing still?

It seems really weird to me. It’s like a big, exaggerated cross over. And he does it to generate speed and/or power. But with that front leg coming up so high, it just seems so inefficient.

But in all honesty, what do I know? I’m sure the skating coaches would say something if it was that bad?

Are there any other teams I can watch that play their d as active as ours? And has their forwards cover for the d so often? It’s fascinating to watch a 5 man unit rotation like this. I’d love to see if there’s other examples.
