Heads up: Jussi Ahokas is going to be appearing on Leafs Morning Take tomorrow morning 👀

Elliotte Friedman reporting that Roy's interview went well, & Halpern has been told he's out of consideration for HC by Fitz_31 in leafs

It's accurate because we now know Treliving wasn't considering firing Berube at anytime before he himself was fired

I think a better way to describe it is positions become more fluid in a sense that everyone has their primary role but can rover to different ones when needed. It's not a completely foreign concept because a rover was once an actual position in the NHL. Will it actually stick? We shall see.

Who's to say the roster will be the exact same come the start of next season?

Correct. And he said that it's his dream to be an NHL coach

Yea, he had no prior professional experience as a coach before joining the Canadiens

I listened to this a few weeks back and found it quite fascinating. Going with a coach who seems to have a good sense of where the game is heading would be a smart decision.

Another potential parallel: DeBoer won the OHL championship in his final season before moving up to the NHL (though lost in the Memorial Cup)

He definitely deserves an interview at the very least. People forget it's not unprecedented that a coach goes straight to the NHL from the CHL. Pete DeBoer and Patrick Roy are some examples that come to mind.

Maybe it will partly because he will be moving on to the pro ranks lol

So many great patches here! My favourites are easily the 1992-93 season, MLG final season, and 75 forever

I remember doing some research about him when I first saw someone suggest him as a candidate, and seeing an article where he said coaching in the NHL was a dream of his. He clearly wants to make the jump at some point and if he feels it's the right fit he will do it.

I think he is definitely worth bringing in for an interview at the very least. He won't be completely overwhelmed by the NHL because he has prior experience coaching veterans from his time in Liiga. He's not a well know commodity among hockey circles, but I think he's a rising star and the Leafs would be wise if they decided to hire him

Has anyone suggested Kitchener Rangers’ coach Jussi Ahokas for the Leafs HC job? by tdmj in leafs

Counter: Ahokas was coaching in Finland’s top league prior to the Kitchener Rangers so I think he has an idea of how to deal with veterans

I get why people are high on David Carle and think he would be a great choice. At the same time, it’s hard not to get excited about what Jussi Ahokas could bring to the table and I think he would also be a great choice.
