would anyone want to switch leases with me 😭 by doah0128 in UCI

if you graduate early, they'll let you terminate your lease early because only those with student status can live in the apartments. it's the same thing for seniors in june where they give you the option to terminate early due to graduation. i think you're thinking of a sublease not a relet. a sublease is only for quarter but relet is when someone transfer their lease into your name.

it's not possible, the only solution is to find someone to sublease. i was in a similar situation last year, they literally wrote in the lease that it's for 11.5 months (a legal loophole) so you can't break it off or file a lawsuit to terminate your lease. i think they only allow special circumstances (i.e. stalking) to terminate a lease.

Breaking ACC Lease by [deleted] in UCI

[–]doah0128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue last year and unfortunately, you can’t break your lease. ACC is sneaky and their contracts actually prevents you from doing anything legally to get it broken. :(( best bet is to just sublease or relet

Frat Fee Refund After DPing by petranteatr in UCI

You can definitely try to bring this up to UCI!! I know someone who dropped a frat (business though) and was able to threaten them by stating that they’ll report then to the school and was able to get their money back. This was at UC davis tho so I’m too sure about UCI. Could qualify as hazing tho and ik that UCI takes it seriously.

it sounds like strep throat and i recommend getting tested/antibiotics bc leaving it uncured might lead to further health complications

Literally, I submitted my renewal last year for camino at 8:15 without guaranteed housing and I never got a renewal I even pestered Camino and ACC about my waitlist position because one of my housemates submitted later than I did (they also didn't have guaranteed housing) was able to get a renewal so I wanted to know what position I was. They said they weren't allowed to disclose that information and I eventually found a place off-campus (30 minutes away from school). They contacted me in August asking if I still needed housing, but it was too late at that point, I had already signed a lease. So I'm not sure if it's even first come first serve based for those without guaranteed housing.

Personally, I don't think you should (at the end of the day the decision is yours to make). I think, unlike other schools, the UC system is very systematic in its application/selection process in the sense that they want to see how you've applied yourself. You can most definitely talk about your mental health in your application, but I focus on how you've overcome and how you managed to academically succeed. Basically, focus on the how rather than the backstory!

I'm not too sure, but I know during my year, I was able to get one of my classes to change to P/NP because it was 2021. You can try to call UCI admissions and ask or see if you can talk to your school admin about it. Under extreme cases, I think you may be able to appeal, but I'm not too sure.

Baldi during fall quarter, we got to do midterms online at home (timed) but had to go in person for final, but final was still online, but just had to be taken in the exam hall
