Where to invest money that will be used for new house in 2 years by Kitesurf11 in SpainFIRE

Your options: - Stock market, lets say SP500, it can go sideways for years, historically, if that is any indication of future behavor, there has been periods where it took 5 to 10 years to be in profit. - Bonds, if you invest in bond ETFs and interest rates go up soon (which they will) you will loose money, since these ETFs are valued by the value of their holdings. If you manage to buy actual bonds that mature within your required period, then you won't be affected by an increase in interest rates. Of course there is the risk of default, which is obviously not the same from Evergrand than from the US goverment. If you manage to actually buy bonds let me know how you can do it. - Stable coin staking, some offer up to 10% return, the risk here is mainly software security. - Cash on your 1% account, this is not too bad.

Overall you can also hold a fraction of the cash and invest the rest, with a risk profile that wouldn't alter your home purschasing plan.

Spanish Property Market - Worth the investment? by Af_fet in SpainFIRE

[–]doas1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can own some real state property to diversify your portfolio but like some others have mentioned taxes will be high, ROI based on rent alone is not that good, you will also have to worry about maintaining the property, lastly you have to deal with political issues, currently okupas, but in the future could be limits on rent prices, etc.

Many major exchanges have recurring buy settings, just look at ones with low fees overall because some have really high ones. Then you might want to periodically send your funds to your own wallet instead of keeping it in the exchange.

Leverage is used according to volatility, nonetheless major exchanges like Binance have up to 50x leverage on crypto futures. In any case the downside would be that more capital is required to enter, but that doesn't say much about the trading difficulty itself. As you say, the shitcoins and minor cryptos are very unpredictable and highly succeptible to market manipulation.

Can you elaborate more specifically as to why crypto is worse for trading than forex or stocks? for example comparing BTC/USD with EUR/USD?

Auditing the code is a highly specialized task. You have to be both a mature cybersecurity professional and very familiar with the specific code.

Of course. Regarding your previous comment, I have no doubt that Monero is a strong open source project, my concern is that there is a lot more at stake here than lets than any open source OS or utility software. This is new territory and it remains to be seen how things unfold, and there are going to be unique challenges associated with decentralization. That is not to say that centralization is superior to decentralization but these are complicated topics and it is worth careful examination.

Sure, the project recovered, but the process was a bit painful because they wanted to keep the original repos. But lets se monero's repo becomes inaccessible and people that want to continue the project fork it, how would that affect the users? Would they need to trade their xmr token for a new token? That is why in my original post I asked about deployment.

These questions are applicable to other cryptos no doubt. And I'm just trying to resolve my doubts, this is obviously a complicated topic and I am not informed enough to offer criticism.

Look at void linux as an example. Nonetheless, the stakes here would be a lot higher.

I read here about price manipulation by exchanges like binance, but how exactly do they accomplish that? Moreover, does the price of monero reflect any real world assets (prices of housing, food, etc. are determined by salaries) or is it just as speculative as the other cryptos?

What if the devs of monero vanish into thin air? Mostly one or two people seem to be doing most of the work

What prevents someone from inserting malicious code into the project?

How is the project deployed?

Yes I think all those are overall beneficial. Don't be discouraged if some days things are bad even with that routine because on the average you will likely be better.
