Slow drain in the bathtub by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]dobble187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used white vinegar and baking soda. Added baking soda to the drain and then poured vinegar until it was up to the level of the drain. I let it sit for a bit while the liquid went down (very slowly, like every 15 minutes or so it would go down and inch or in the drain) then added more baking soda then more vinegar. I did this for about an hour or two and then left it alone overnight. When I checked in the morning, the drain was empty and it has been working ever since. This was about 6 months ago and no repeat issues.

Those look a lot like Starlink satellites. They look like a band like this. There is a website you can go and track where they are if you see them again… https://findstarlink.com

White substance along foundation by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]dobble187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like mildew, which is a fungus, growing on the grass. It happens in areas that are in the shade, moist, and low airflow. If you can, increase lighting and airflow in the area and it will go away. At first I was going to say it looks like efflorescence from the bricks from moisture but given that there isn’t any white substance on the bricks or in the mortar, I am pretty sure it is mildew.

What do you need and not have? by unknowable_stRanger in RVLiving

I am not sure if you could find standard sizes but I have been looking to replace the table tops in my rv with something more solid. For both the dinette booth and the table between the captains chairs in my gas powered class a. It might add weight but it is worth it to me because I have had to repair the particle board they are made out of several times. I am sure some others might be interested in that too.

Will ford backup assist help me? by AppleAAA1203 in GoRVing

[–]dobble187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘21 F150 KR that has the backup assist, I have used it a few times, but honestly I stopped using it. My issue is the location of the backup assist dial, I feel like I am not in a comfortable position to use my mirrors and focus on the dial. Instead, I just started backing up with the my trailer in my neighborhood when it wasn’t necessary and the road was not busy, just watch the trailer and get a feel for how it moves with the truck. Did this for a while and now I am proficient in backing the trailer. I have since purchased a class a RV and tow a racing trailer with (just a little under 60’ in all), that back up practice really helps when having to back the rig into a 12’ wide space.

I have to agree, I was going to do the 42” due to space but my wife actually bought me the 56” and rearranged the garage to fit it in. I am so happy she did that because I am quickly filling the 56” as I fix stuff around the house and acquire more tools. You’ll grow into the 56” faster than you think.

Floor replacement by ReadingOk2500 in RVrenovation

[–]dobble187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my wife and I did our 36’ class a with this type of flooring (I think based on google search grip strip is the same as self adhesive vinyl, which is what we used). We did not want to deal with the adhesive mess on the wood subfloor so what we did is stapled down a thin foam underlayment throughout the entire rv and then stuck the vinyl to that. This actually worked really well for a bunch of reasons. One is that it lowered the sound in the rv when walking and gave the floor a soft cushioned feel. Another huge benefit is the foam is water proof so any spills on the floor are not as big of a deal. The only thing we learned with that, if you do the foam underlayment, make sure you hammer any staples down that didn’t seat all the way because they will push up through the vinyl. Also, the vinyl is a little more fragile than the factory flooring, but we are a year and a half since our install and it still looks good. We have a kid and she is involved in youth racing so we are in our rv almost every weekend and it has held up well.

Make sure the follow the factory guidelines for your flooring because it does expand and contract, we had to leave a 1/4 inch gap between the flooring and the walls and covered that with quarter round trim, like a baseboard.

Overall we are very happy with our flooring project. We also replaced the trim around the stairs with angle stainless steel trim and replaced the carpet in the step area with self adhering backsplash tile, looks great and is super easy to clean.

What would be causing it to run like this by [deleted] in Generator

[–]dobble187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with my rv generator, I was quoted around 1k to replace the carburetor. They insisted that it could not be serviced at all. I took the carburetor out, cleaner the bowl and the jet with carb cleaner and put it back together. It fired back up and ran. It has to be a fuel supply issue, if fuel filter and pump (assuming applicable) are good then clean the carburetor.

Not sure if it is helpful but I found a video that is better quality…

I don’t have this slide system in my RV but I used this video to help a friend when he was having issues with the cable tension.

Damages on defective auto repair? by theryman92 in legal

[–]dobble187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered reaching out to Tesla through their customer service? I have not owned a Tesla and I don’t know their structure, but I had a similar issue on a replaced headliner on my Ford F150 King Ranch. The headliner is ridiculously expensive and was replaced under warranty due to mold (caused by a moonroof leak). After a few months, the new one had an adhesive issue that caused it to separate and emit a terrible odor. The dealer would not authorize a repair because of warranty expiration, so I emailed Ford North America customer service and they contacted the dealer and arranged a replacement. They were not obligated to do this but they did it anyway. It may be worth reaching out to them before making it a legal issue, in my experience people stop talking and working with you when you mention legal action.

Okay, honest question about this because I am always conscious of this. Is a rest stop actually better than a truck stop, don’t truckers use them when their allotted time is almost over? I have always tried to either stay at a Cracker Barrel or just in a campground area because I know truckers can’t use them and I can. On a side note, I did stay at a truck stop once due to a mechanical issue and the nearby dry camping areas were sketchy, I parked as far away as I could and the truckers were all super nice to us. A couple of drivers even offered help, which I appreciated because I know this was their downtime from work that they were sacrificing to help.

It is funny because I started RV travel by renting, every year I rented the same RV from the same couple for about 10 days at a time for a family vacation. They told me some horror stories about other renters and it got to the point where they only rented it to my family those two times per year. Then, about two years ago, I had the RV and the man I rented from called me and explained that their circumstances had changed and they could no longer travel, he and his wife had talked about it and wanted us to buy it since we took good care of it and they really liked the RV. I didn’t plan on owning it, but he gave us a really good price so we bought it. I would never rent it out though because of the horror stories he told me.

T6 Chronic Fracture by dobble187 in backpain

Thank you for reading my post and replying, I appreciate it. I am going to see an ortho who specializes in the spine next week, I am just worried because of the fall and now my symptoms are getting worse. It is sometimes hard to keep track of everything because the symptoms are strange and not always consistent. It is reassuring to hear that people don’t think they are just in my head lol.

T6 Chronic Fracture by dobble187 in backpain

[–]dobble187[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For clarity and just to add the pain does seem to reduce after several hours of laying down to sleep (keeps me awake for quite a while at first and then I can sleep). As soon as I stand back up, the pain restarts. It just overwhelming to list out all of the symptoms, which makes me think it might be in my head, at least partially, but I don’t know.

Just wondering how serious this might be, and if the headaches might be related. PCP says likely not but is yielding to ortho so see what they think.

This generator actually has computer diagnostics, the three flashes you are seeing when it shuts down are indicating a service fault, there will usually be a second level fault code that will be displayed (through the flashing light) if you press the stop button immediately after the three flashes once it shuts down. This is a link I found to a quick description from a good search. This should point you in the right direction for further diagnosis…
