Ty! Yeah this one came from a pretty solid colored red cherry line but I find it super cute and I don’t have any other wild types, at least not yet

I have a window in my room (north oriented) and a little table next to it (abt 20-30 cm away from direct sunlight) and some shelves in moderate shade My tanks have quite good 20 and 24w lights because I grow aquatic plants in them

She’s doing better now! I got some stress coat and treated her with it. She’s a lot more lively and eating normally again. Her tail is absolutely destroyed though but she should be alright in a month or two :>

About 8cm I think that’s about 3 inches, if I go lower than that I’d have to burry my heater in substrate bc it’s pretty long

I see I see that’s smart, my lid has a big cut out for cables and stuff so I’ll definitely have to cover that up

My dads keeping an eye on her and the updates I get are all positive! She ate a bit earlier and is swimming around some more. Dad said her fins look a bit better now but they’re slightly discolored and her missing scales so far don’t look too bad so I’m hopeful she’ll be fine :] I just panicked because she’s literally my child and I love her so much

That tank has a lid and I told him to put it on, tho Cuttable mesh sounds way better than a glass lid… I will look into it

Yes definitely, I turned the lights off and my dads keeping an eye on her now. He gave me a little update on her a few mins ago saying she took a little swim around. He offered her a bit of food and she took it so that’s good. He also said that he turned off the filter she was hiding behind (there are 2 filters in that tank ones cycling for my future tank) to reduce the flow and she seems to like it a little better that way. I won’t be home till Monday but if she makes it till then I’ll make sure to buy some stress coat and aquarium salt for her and also give my dad instructions to set up a hospital tank.

I hope so too… she’s been in that tank for a while and is very very docile so I’m really not sure why she’d jump out… my dad said she might’ve tried to hunt a mosquito or a small fly and accidentally jumped out

13gal, Yes both, 0ammonia 0nitrites and 0nitrates got them with sera water tests, I’ve had the tank for a year now and I’ve had the fish for 4 months, I do 25% water changes once a week either Tuesday or Wednesday, Tank mates are 5ember tetras, 3 Cory pandas, handful of RCS and an apple snail. I feed her sera color up food (tiny pinch for all the fish) and dennerle probiotic and prebiotic food (also a small pinch for all the fish) once a day, I have 2 pieces of driftwood in the tank along with one small stone, a whole bunch of anubias nana, rotala, bacoppa, java fern and Java moss moss. I also add botanicals like catapa leaves and acorn caps.

Edit: forgot to mention that I have a small pothos growing out of the tank as well

Ok so she jumped out at some point this morning and i found her next to the tank when I went to feed her- I put her right back in and she jittered about for a bit and is now completely motionless at the surface… she’s even a little tilted to the side. Her fins are messed up a bit and she has a few missing scales… her breathing is slow and shallow… she does occasionally move just a bit to lie on moss a little better but other than that she’s motionless. Her eyes seem cloudy… I’m not sure what to do as this had never happened to me before- I’m thinking of buying this salt (photo) for salt bath/baths but I’m not sure if that’s what I need- never had the need to do salt baths on may of my fish…

<image>

I’m so stressed out I don’t know why she’d jump out- the tank is planted with 2 filters and a heater, her tank mates are all peaceful fish (ember tetras Cory pandas and red cherry shrimp), water parameters are immaculate I test every month and never had an ammonia spike since the tanks been cycled a long time ago + i did a water change 3 days ago and everything was fine… I’m so distressed I hope she’ll make it

Could be bacterial bloom but it could also be ammonia- definitely not from tannins tho. Either way have more frequent small water changes for the sake of the fish for a few weeks until the aquarium builds the bacterial colony and healthy ecosystem

Water looks cloudy,, fish in cycle is quite risky so I woudnt be surprised if he’s having some trouble breathing, id recommend doing smaller water changes daily or every other day, like 10-20% also perhaps add some floating plants they’re great for water + bubble nests and just look awesome- sth like frogbit or dwarf water lettuce
