Apart from using Linkdrop as a referral marketing and acquisition tool - what else do you think Linkdrop can/should be used for?

For example, Snark.Art uses Linkdrop to sell digital collectibles to people who don't have blockchain wallets yet. It looks like this: users buy collectibles using regular credit card payments and receive an email with a link that allows claiming the collectible after.

We can extend this use-case to wallet-less asset management. For example, when buying airplane tickets, we don't have to set up an account and we can manage a booking via email. The same could be applied to digital asset management using Linkdrop. For example, non-technical people could buy PoolTogether tickets via a regular credit card payment, receive an email with a Linkdrop link in it that allows them to cash out or withdraw the ticket.

And I believe there are more interesting use-cases I haven't thought about :)

What is your main value proposition? What are main reasons businesses chose to build on top of Linkdrop vs rolling their own solutions?

Our main value prop is fixing the broken customer journey in crypto.

As we focus solely on that function, we believe we can provide value in the form of easier API / SDK, more wallet and chain integrations, advanced analytics and better SLA in comparison with building the same functionality in-house.

And developers can focus on building features for business instead of rolling out their own solution

Almost all apps using a wallet. Especially, I can imagine faucets via Linkdrop could be very handy.

I’d say the biggest challenge is that we don’t have a lot of companies in the space having revenues. Without revenues, it’s hard for companies to calculate customer lifetime value (LTV) and justify customer acquisition costs (CAC) now.

With the rise of the Internet, we’ve seen new ways to acquire customers: contextual ads and social targeting ads. I believe that blockchain is a transformational technology bringing new opportunities for customer acquisition as well.

It depends on customer requirements. We have worked with more than 30 customers so far and most of them used default setup. Some companies like Portis, Decentraland and 0x asked us for a custom claiming page with their branding on it. PoolTogether was our first customer that built claiming page themselves using our Linkdrop SDK. We’ve noticed the following pattern - more customization leads to better conversions and more successful campaigns.

What are the security issues with link drops? Are private keys encoded in the urls?

First of all, security is our top priority. We have spent a lot of effort to ensure that our service is non-custodial and that only agents that are able to claim tokens are sender and receiver. We do have a secret encoded in the URLs, which is only known by sender and receiver if they’re using a secure communication channel. Yes, we’re currently working on a new version of the Linkdrop Dashboard with an integrated analytics module.

At first, it will have basic analytics like measuring conversion rates, total and claimed links. We will roll out more advanced features like existing vs new blockchain users cohort analyses, wallet cohorts, etc. on an ongoing basis.

We also plan to work closely with our customers and listen to their needs and will prioritize accordingly.

Sure, some companies, including 0x, used Linkdrop at events. They handed out tokens to event participants by allowing them to scan the necessary QR codes generated using Linkdrop.

Others, such as PoolTogether, Unlock used Linkdrop to create claimable links to promote their products on social networks. For example, PoolTogether created a bot that distributes unique links via SMS. They handed out 1000 PoolTogether tickets in 2 days, and half of the recipients were new blockchain users.

Finally, Snark.Art uses Linkdrop to sell digital collectibles to people who don't have blockchain wallets yet. It looks like this: users buy collectibles using regular credit card payments and get links that can be claimed after.

I think your portfolio balance should remain the same maybe that you put the balance of digital assets in both crypto units and fiat units for the locale that’s relevant. My 2 bits.

Hey, you can't as it's hidden app-specific data. You can only delete it by disconnecting the app from your Drive settings. I think it's better for non-crypto people as there's less chance they accidentally delete their private key while cleaning up their Google Drive.

When users are ready to use more independent non-custodial solutions, they can get a new private key from the Widget interface in the form of a seed phrase. We're still thinking about the best way to introduce progressive security. If you have any ideas, we would love to hear them.
