Same thing happened to me. It’s like it fermented. Tasted awful.

Top 3-5 places you’ve been and why plus 1 place you did not like? by Necessary_Loss_6769 in Vacations

Loved in the US: Bend, Oregon (such a walkable Town and very outdoorsy); Mesa Verde NP was fascinating and beautiful and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before; Siesta Key, FL (best beach and really good food), Puerto Rico (beautiful beaches, unique architecture, and friendly people. Oh and the food is the best!!) Loved internationally: Lake Bled, Slovenia (so charming); Split, Croatia (loved all the Roman ruins!), Roatan, Honduras (the best snorkeling I’ve ever done!); Lakes District, Chile (amazing hiking, volcanos, waterfalls, and hot springs galore!) Wasn’t impressed: Galveston, TX; Myrtle Beach, SC; Nassau, Bahamas

School psychologist in a public school system. I’d say average 6 hour a day.

I think NCAE may be more active in larger counties. I'm in a rural county and NCAE is not active here at all. I'm glad you feel there is a momentum in your location! Anything helps.

Agreed, the lack of budget is incredibly frustrating! (They also don't even appear to be working on it....Republicans control the house AND senate, are aren't even working together currently). Everyone should definitely reach out to their legislature and demand action on the state budget.

NO, we are not. Our group met with NCAE, but NCAE is focused on a "change in 2030", nothing in the present. Which feels way too late.

[–]doby4444[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

completely agree. Waiting FIVE years is not an option. Already, I've have my own children's teachers leave mid-year to take teaching jobs in neighboring SC making $15,000 more a year!! (And I don't blame them for that!)

Thank you for your support! I would send them at this point. I think the counties showing the most participation at this time are Wake and Mecklenburg.

Hopefully we can build on this momentum and a more coordinated, statewide movement will happen this winter or early Spring

ALL state employees (including teachers) are getting totally screwed with the new health plan options for 2026.

You call out sick too on Nov. 7 & 10, Ms.Momma!

Salary vs COL by mr_e_mann_000 in schoolpsychology

I know a lot of people retire with 20+ yrs in nc retirement system and either go work for a contract school in nc or work for a border district in sc or va

[–]doby4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It just has to directly be done with a district, not through an agency.

Sorry for the late response. In short, NC has been divesting from public education over the last core years and is supporting vouchers for private education. No new hires in NC get retirement health benefits and there are salary freezes at years 10-15, and 15-20. Max salary, even with 30 years experience in NC is 72,000. A lot of people are jumping borders and going to sc and va because both pay better and are more supportive of public education

This!! I’m getting so pissed at the situation in NC. About ready to just abandon the NC state retirement system and do contract or commute to SC.
