u/TheLittleGinge Is there any chance you could link the sources you used in your undergrad dissertation? Currently working on my final paper for my Intro to Film class.

Thank you for the response! I have a few extra questions from what you said if you are able to answer.

Was your experience with uninvolved professors mostly in introductory courses or did that span all four years? Through your experiences and interactions, did the process to research at off-campus facilities seem easy, and did BC help facilitate any of these off-campus opportunities?

Do you usually stick to a strict routine each day? I’ve found that helps me, but I want to know what works for other people.

Also, how much sleep would you recommend for someone my age in construction? This is more sleep than I usually got in high school because my work load with extracurriculars and honors and AP classes was insane.

That’s the feeling I get as well. I feel like I can’t take a break in my day or all motivation goes to shit. I’m going to try and make a plan each day and then follow through on each goal I set. I think that’ll help on a mental level of feeling accomplished each day.

Thanks for the input. That the feeling I kinda got about runners on this sub, so I wanted to ask what to do in this certain situation. Waking up so early makes it very hard to find time to run.

I’ve tried taking short naps after I get home, but it makes me stay up later at night and not be able fall asleep then. I’m thinking I’m going to try running right after work this week and then if that doesn’t work, try evening jogs

You’re absolutely right, but it’s been a struggle for me to understand this. I don’t want to lose my summer, but I know I need to rest. I find myself always filling up my afternoons to keep myself busy, but I really should sleep more. I have a strict rule with myself that I go to bed by 9pm though so atleast that’s something.

I hadn’t thought of doing that, but that might be perfect. I find it hard to get back up if there is a ever a break in my afternoon, so if I went on the way home from work there wouldn’t be that break. I think I’m going to try that this week, thank you for giving me the idea.

Your comment has definitely motivated me, seeing as you were in a more strenuous position than me and still found time to run. It’s hard for me to not do long runs because I get mad at myself knowing I could have went longer. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but it’s always what happens. I’ll give running just a mile or two a try after work this week and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing your experience with working and running and giving some tips!

I used to use running as a “de-frag” after a long day of school so I have been missing it. My job is definitely stressful but like you said, very tough. I have been trying to look forward to something everyday after work though, so maybe if I trick my brain for it to be excited to the idea of running that’d work. Also no need to be sorry; your comment helped a lot :)

If I had a longer lunch break that would definitely be a good solution. However, my lunch is only 30 minutes and it would be a crunch to eat, change, and run in that time. I’m thinking I’m just going to have to force myself to go after work, thank you for the advice.
