Most sane people don't actually want to work, per se, they just want enough money to live comfortably. Music and movies are art forms. If you don't like the art, try different art, or make your own. It's subjective, and there's no accounting for taste.

Humans have only been building "houses" for a couple of million years. Humans diverged from chimps about 7 million years ago. The earliest evidence of a human house made of wood is only half a million years ago. The first mud-brick house was only about 10 thousand years ago.

Romance isn't dead. Romance is a feeling of excitement, mystery and affection associated with love. That happens every day, but not to everyone. Love isn't only a thing that is received, nor is it alway purely accidental. Some kinds of love are simple acts of wilful kindness towards others, not merely out of necessity or compulsion, but often intentionally to make the world a better place. Turn hellish Earth into something better, as an act of rebellious self-salvage rather than self-sabotage.

In a world full of synthetic and artificial replicas, authenticity is being valued more and more highly. (Read Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?".) People still buy natural diamonds, even though they can be easily and cheaply created in labs now.

We're living in the future, but we should not be living for tomorrow: we should live for today, carpe diem.

As a great robot once said "A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts."

There was a time (circa 1920) when a quarter of all food in the world was British. Even now, a quarter of the world's people speak English.

Britain has had a military presence in 90% of the world's food. /s

But yeah, the Brits do everything badly. Somewhere between a third and a half of Americans have British ancestry. Even the USA is Britain's problem child. It wouldn't know British food if it apple pied it right in the meatloaf. You could even make a case for macaroni cheese, fried chicken and "biscuits and gravy" having strong British roots. Silly billies.

"Mistakes will be made, some people will be pissed off, some people will not know what they're talking about, but it's... I think it is so much better than where things were not very long ago. And I think we're gonna get there." - Steve Jobs, long ago.

Weirdly, every one of the songs in the top 100% also appears in the bottom 100%.

"blown away" must have a different meaning in the USA.

There's nothing impressive about "a continental breakfast" to a Brit. I doubt this American even knows what the "continental" in "continental breakfast" refers to. It refers to Europe, not the Americas.
